CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara Review

CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara ($5.49 at Harmon) is a brand new release this Spring and so far, I've only seen it in Harmon (and not yet in it's sister stores Bed Bath and Beyond or Christmas Tree Shops at the time of this post).  Harmon tends to get new products before the drugstores but I'm sure it won't be too long until this pops up at CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc. 

Let's take a look...

The Super Sizer promises "bold, corner to corner volume for full, fanned out lashes" plus 400% more volume.  That's quite a claim...how can we even measure that? 

City Color Intense Blush Quad Review and Swatches

City Color Intense Blush Quad is one of my latest Five Below finds...the bright colors caught my eye and it was only $4, so I couldn't resist.  If you don't live near a Five Below, you can purchase it from Citycolorcosmetics.com (but it's $7.99 on their website). Let's take a closer look...

I purchased Palette #1, which contains four bright pink shades. From left to right, there's a fuchsia, bright barbie pink, dusty rose, and baby pink.

There are three other palettes in this collection...one with orange/coral shades, one with more subtle dusty pinks, and one with bronzy shades.  All four shades in this palette are matte, which is so great! 

Covergirl The Super Sizer Mascara Spotted at Harmons

Covergirl The Super Sizer Mascara  ($5.49 at Harmons) is a brand new release that I spotted this morning on my usual trip to Harmon Discount. Harmon also has a store inside select Bed, Bath and Beyonds and Christmas Tree Shops but I didn't see this mascara in either of those yet...only my freestanding Harmons had it. 

It was on a small display attached to the Covergirl section, so it wasn't in the new products section...I almost missed it!

Wet N Wild Silver Lake Blush & Glow Trio Review and Swatches

Wet N Wild Silver Lake Coloricon Blush and Glow Trios ($3.99 at Rite Aid) are brand new for Spring 2015 and the other day, I posted photos of the display with the three shade combinations (see that post here). I ended up purchasing two of them...Fair Trade Coffee and Sunset Junction. Let's take a look!

The Blush and Glow Trios come in large round disc-shaped packaging with a clear lid. Inside, each contains a highlighter, blush and bronzer. The pans are fairly large, but my one gripe with these is that they're not separated by a border, so when I dip my brush into them, I have to be super careful not to let bronzer or blush get mixed in with the highlighter shade which is much lighter. I don't feel like these are the type of palettes you can swirl the brush through all three shades at once (although you could)...personally, I would rather use each shade separately.
The formula is super soft and pigmented...I was able to pick up a lot of color with just one swipe.

L'oreal Miss Manga Rock Mascara Review

L'oreal Miss Manga Rock is a new mascara that promises to give you "spiked overloaded volume" with a 360 degree spiked brush. I have to admit, when I first saw the photo of the model on the display I totally lost interest in this. I thought, "why would anyone actually want spidery clumpy lashes? Isn't that what we're always trying to avoid?" I mean, it looks kinda cool and funky on her, but in real life? Nah...But being the beauty blogger that I am, my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to just go for it and see what happens.  So let's take a look...

The packaging and tube look very similar to the original Miss Manga, except the cap is yellow instead of pink. 

Jordana Cat Eye Liner Review and Swatches

Jordana Cat Eye Liner ($2.99 at Walgreens) is new for Spring 2015 and I picked these up back in February when I first saw the display at my local Walgreens. 

There were 8 colors, most of which were really bright and bold. I ended up choosing black and brown...boring I know but I figured those were the shades I'd get the most use out of. 

The shades I chose are called 01 Black Leather and 02 Black Brown.

They come in long, slim tubes with a twist-off cap with the brush attached. The brush itself is micro-thin and flexible to help you achieve that perfect wing.

Wet N Wild Silver Lake Color Icon Blush & Glow Trios Spotted at Rite Aid

I was at Rite Aid today and spotted more new products in the Silver Lake Collection. Back in February, I spotted some new 6-pan eyeshadows that were part of the Silver Lake line and reviewed one of them called Vinyl Collection (see that post here). I assumed that there wouldn't be any more Silver Lake releases because a lot of time has gone by since then, but here they are! These are Color Icon Blush and Glow Trios ($3.99) with bronzer, blush and highlighter shades in three different color combinations.

Makeup Revolution Amazing Sheer Gloss Review and Swatches

I received the Makeup Revolution Amazing Sheer Lip Glosses ($1.50 each at Makeuprevolution.com) as part of a Black Friday bundle...they were part of a free gift for spending a certain amount of money...I think it was $40? 

Anyway, they've been sitting on my desk for a long time and I wasn't even sure I was going to try them, because they just seem like plain old lip gloss tubes...nothing too exciting. But the other day I grabbed one on my way out the door and applied it in the car and I liked it so much, I had to try the other three shades! Let's take a look...

First, can we talk about how cheap these are? $1.50 is probably one of the least expensive lip glosses I've ever owned. Plus you get quite a bit of product...they come in long narrow tubes that are perfect for throwing in your purse because they're not chunky. 

Profusion Smoky Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

The Profusion Smoky Eyeshadow Palette ($5 at Five Below) is a budget friendly makeup find that I couldn't wait to share with you guys...just wait until you see these swatches! I reviewed the Profusion Bare Palette a few days ago and I was really impressed, although there were a couple shades that were a bit lacking in pigmentation. I have to say...this palette is even better! Let's take a look...

The palette is cardboard with a magnetic closure and a mirror inside. It also comes with a black eyeliner pencil and sponge-tipped applicator.

I assumed that a Smoky palette would be mostly darker shades, but there are a few light and medium shades in this palette as well.  There are 10 shades total, 2 matte and 8 shimmer. The shimmer shades are extremely buttery and soft and ridiculously pigmented...I can hardly believe this palette was only $5.

Makeup Revolution Goddess of Love Highlighter Review and Swatches

The Makeup Revolution Goddess of Love Highlighter ($7.48) is a beautiful champagne triple-baked powder that'll add a radiant glow to your skin. I purchased this back in the fall and now that all of the new Spring product posts have slowed down I'm happy that I can finally do a review and swatches on this for you guys.

This highlighter is part of the Blushing Hearts collection that Makeup Revolution put out a few months back, which features blushes, highlighters and bronzers.  I actually did a review on the blushes back in November, because they're a total dupe for the Too Faced Sweethearts Blush (see that post here).

Skinfood Cacao Hand Balm Review

Skinfood Cacao Hand Balm ($8) is a super nourishing treatment for dry hands that I've become obsessed with the past week or so.  I had heard that they were opening a Skinfood store at the Palisades Mall in Nyack, NY which is fairly close to me, and you guys know how much I love Skinfood! They're my favorite Korean beauty brand and they're so hard to find...they only have a handful of stores in the NY and California markets and you're not able to order from their website yet. Stores like Urban Outfitters have started to carry select Skinfood products, but I really wanted access to their entire line, so needless to say, I was pretty psyched that they opened a store so close!

I picked up a few items, including this Cacao Hand Balm.  I fell in love with it as soon as I tried the tester on the back of my hand...it had to be mine, haha! It comes in a cute little jar and it's only $8. 

Profusion Bare Palette Review and Swatches

I spotted the Profusion Bare Palette ($5) at my local 5 Below store the other day.  They had a large makeup section with bunch of different eyeshadow palettes from Profusion, including a smoky palette and a neon one too. At only 5 bucks, how could I not pick one up to review and swatch for you guys!?  Let's take a look...

The Bare Palette comes in a cardboard case with a magnetic closure.

Inside, there are ten eyeshadows and a mirror on the inside cover. They also include a black eyeliner pencil and a double-ended sponge tip applicator. I figured that the eyeliner wouldn't be that great...it's just a standard wooden pencil-style, but it's actually smooth, creamy and pigmented.

This eyeshadow palette has a nice range of shades, including four matte and 6 shimmers. There's a mix of browns/taupes and purples in here that go from cool to warm, so it's a really versatile palette!

I absolutely loved this shampoo and conditioner! It's extremely hard to find silicone-free hair products these days which is important for people with fine thin hair like me.  After a while, silicone builds up and can weigh your hair down and make it look dull.  The shampoo had tons of creamy lather but didn't feel like it was drying out my hair.  The conditioner felt thick and rich, hydrating my dry color-treated hair, but it rinsed clean. Afterwards, my hair felt moisturized and clean with no heavy feel, plus it smells amazing! Even the next day, I could still smell the fresh clean scent in my hair. 

Wave Creation Sea Foam

This ultra-light Sea Foam helps create soft, natural-looking waves. It looks similar to mousse but is thinner and more foamy rather than creamy. The bottle said to use 2-5 pumps...I used 3 since I have fine hair that's medium length.  I spread it evenly through my hair from root to tip, like it showed in the video and then blow-dried my hair with a round brush.  It didn't make my hair feel sticky and didn't weigh it down at all. 

Next, the video showed to wrap sections of hair around a curling iron, holding it vertically.  The stylist showed a cool trick I hadn't seen before...to flick your wrist as you're wrapping the hair around the barrel of the iron to get a more natural wave pattern.

Here's my finished waves...I decided to start my waves further down since it looks a little more casual and less "done" than starting them up high, especially on a long bob like mine.

The other day, I was in Target and I spotted a bunch of new Elf products that they were putting out (I posted a picture of some new Beauty Book palettes on my Instagram page if you're interested to see what they look like).  They were also putting out some products that have been around for a while on the Elf website, but I haven't seen at Target yet, like the Prism Palette ($10) in Naked. I've been dying to try this for a while now since a lot of beauty bloggers are comparing it to Makeup Geek's foiled shadows. Let's take a look!

Simple Skincare Cleansing Wipes Review

I was recently given the opportunity to try Simple Skincare's Cleansing Wipes in two different varieties...Radiance and Exfoliating ($4.96 at Walmart). Now, I'm usually pretty good about doing my double cleanse at night, but I'm not gonna lie...when my toddler has me running all over the place all day, sometimes I'm just too tired and reach for a cleansing wipe instead.  In the past, I haven't been too crazy about removing makeup this way because even though it's quick and easy, most wipes I've used felt like they left a film on my face and sometimes they even burn my eye area (and I don't have sensitive skin).  Well these Simple wipes have changed all that for me...let's take a look! 

Before I get into the details of each type, I want to point out that neither of these have a scent at all, and they both leave my skin feeling clean with no film or residue. They also don't burn or sting my eyes when removing eye makeup, so they have effectively solved the issues I had with wipes in general!

IT Cosmetics Tightline Mascara Primer Review and Swatches

IT Cosmetics Tightline Full Lash Length 3-in-1 Eyeliner, Primer, and Mascara ($24 at Ulta) is a mascara I've been dying to try ever since I saw it demo'd on QVC. If you're a klutz at drawing on eyeliner like I am, or just want to save yourself some time in the morning, you're definitely going to want to read this review! Let's take a closer look...

I purchased this on a recent trip to Ulta and I actually bought the mini size ($10) to try it out before I went for the full size (I love when companies make minis!). Tightline is different than other mascaras because it's your eyeliner, black lash primer, and mascara in one! It also contains peptides, proteins, biotin, jojoba, and green tea to nourish and protect your lashes.  It's also paraben-free, fragrance-free, sulfate-free and phthalate-free so it's perfect for even the most sensitive eyes.

So you're probably wondering how the heck a mascara can double as an eyeliner? The secret is in the super skinny spoolie brush.  It gets right down to the base of your lashes and deposits pigment between your lashes and right at the lash line, giving the effect of eyeliner! It also coats each lash from root to tip...most mascaras can't get all the way into the roots because the brushes are too big.
All you have to do is press the brush right into your lash line and wiggle it back and forth as you sweep it up through your lashes from root to tip.

Hard Candy All Glossed Up Hydrating Lip Stain Metallic Review & Swatches

Hard Candy All Glossed Up Hydrating Lip Stain ($5, Walmart) has been around a while, but they introduced four metallic shades this past fall and somehow I missed them! Metallic lips are definitely a trend this Spring with Too Faced releasing the new Melted Metal Lipsticks and Milani coming out with their Fierce Foils so I really wanted to try this one to see if it could be a good budget option for you guys. Let's take a look...

These look extremely similar to the original All Glossed Up pencils except this one has a cap that's the same color as the rest of the packaging and the original has a clear cap.  Also, these have a shiny chromed finish to them...they're really very pretty and eye-catching.  They come in four shades and I chose Zappy to try first, although I was torn between that, Mystic and Perky!

Beauty Bargain: Essence Lip Liners Review and Swatches

I rarely get to go to Ulta since the closest store is a 45 minute drive for me, but the other day I decided to make the trip. I needed some lip liners and spotted these Essence ones for only $1.49, so I picked up a few. I admit I wasn't expecting too much from such an inexpensive lip liner, but these are actually quite awesome...take a look!

These liners are the wooden pencil kind that have to be sharpened. I usually stay away from this type because they're usually dry and tug on my lips when I go to apply them. But these are surprisingly creamy and soft! I lined and filled in my lips and just wore these as lipstick with a dab of lip balm on top. If your lips aren't super dry like mine, you may not even need the lip balm.
The colors I got are Cute Pink and Satin Mauve. I like them both but Satin Mauve is my favorite. Lately I've been really drawn to mauve-y type shades...I find that they're still natural looking but don't wash me out like nudes do.

Here they are on my lips.  They have great wear time since they're liners, but I did have to reapply my lip balm once during the day.

Overall, these are a great budget find!  I really want to pick up some more shades now...but I'll have to wait until my next Ulta trip (or online haul).

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow Review and Swatches

I was so happy with my last Colourpop Super Shock Shadows ($5), I decided to order more! I originally ordered four matte shades and posted a review and swatches (see them here) so this time, I ordered some shimmery metallic shades (and a few mattes), while still sticking to neutral colors that I would wear. 

One of the really nice things about Colourpop (and there are many) is that they always include a handwritten note with your order.  This one was particularly cute so I had to share it.  It's a little hard to read the handwriting, but it says, "How to speak Irish: Whale, Oil, Bee, Look, Hay (say it fast)" Well I'll be lucky!  Haha.  So cute.
