Skinfood Cacao Hand Balm Review

Skinfood Cacao Hand Balm ($8) is a super nourishing treatment for dry hands that I've become obsessed with the past week or so.  I had heard that they were opening a Skinfood store at the Palisades Mall in Nyack, NY which is fairly close to me, and you guys know how much I love Skinfood! They're my favorite Korean beauty brand and they're so hard to find...they only have a handful of stores in the NY and California markets and you're not able to order from their website yet. Stores like Urban Outfitters have started to carry select Skinfood products, but I really wanted access to their entire line, so needless to say, I was pretty psyched that they opened a store so close!
I posted this photo to my Instagram feed while I was there...

I picked up a few items, including this Cacao Hand Balm.  I fell in love with it as soon as I tried the tester on the back of my hand...it had to be mine, haha! It comes in a cute little jar and it's only $8.

It has a super high glycerin content...40%! Glycerin attracts moisture from the air and pulls it into your skin, so it's a fantastic ingredient for people with dry skin. It also has cocoa butter and shea butter for extra moisturization.

It looks kind of like chocolate pudding- sorry that this photo already has my finger marks in it...I couldn't wait to use it! It's also scented like chocolate...not in an overwhelming way, and it disappears pretty fast once it's absorbed.

The Cacao Hand Balm is super soft and has a consistency like butter- without the grease. It's definitely heavy and emollient- so much so, that I mainly use it at night- but I don't find that it leaves a greasy coating on my hands once it's absorbed. It takes a few minutes to sink in and after that I don't really notice it.  But my skin drinks up anything that touches it, so if you have oily skin, you probably won't like this.
When I wake up in the morning, my hands are super soft, smooth, and hydrated- no more old lady hands! I also use this on extra dry spots like my knees and elbows.
Overall, if you have dry skin, this is a must-have hand treatment! It's luxurious, melting texture and heavenly chocolate scent makes it a treat to use at bedtime. If you live near a Skinfood store, you'll definitely want to pick this up.  If not, you're in luck! Memebox sells it here for $8.
