Wet n Wild Gold Bar Highlighter Review & Swatches
Each display unit only holds two of the highlighters so you can imagine my struggle trying to get ahold of one of these. It seemed like every store I went to either didn't have the display up yet or if they did, the highlighters were the only thing missing. Arrgh!

Then the other day I went to NY to visit my parents and I remembered that I was about to pass a Rite Aid on the way. I almost didn't stop because I was just over it at that point, but I ended up going in anyway. Good thing I did because they were literally just putting the display up and it was full! So I was able to get one to review and swatch for you guys.

I also saw someone post a photo on Instagram that she found hers at Five Below, so that's another place to check. I haven't seen this in any Walgreens stores yet and I have six of them near me (yes, I checked them all, haha!), so I guess they're either not getting this collection or are just putting it out a little later.
Anyway enough rambling from me, let's take a closer look!

Today's Makeup | All Wet n Wild
Wet n Wild is one of my favorite drugstore brands because they offer great quality and some of the lowest prices. They were the first makeup brand I tried back in the late '80's and I've been using them ever since. Recently, Wet n Wild sent me a big box of products to try and it filled in a lot of the gaps in my collection...then I realized that I had enough products to create an entire look from one brand, from primer to mascara!
So I decided to do a natural, everyday look and I applied my makeup the way that I would wear it out of the house. Unfortunately, when you photograph makeup, it tends to disappear so if you want it to show up in pictures, you really have to pile it on heavily. I didn't want to overdo it because I still wanted to look like me, so it might be hard to see the actual colors on my skin. I'll swatch the shades I used down below so you can see the shades better.
1. I started with the Coverall Primer ($4.99). This primer is a white creamy gel-type formula rather than the clear silicone type. It makes my skin feel so smooth once it sets. I just apply it all over, even my eyelids and let it set for a few minutes before applying foundation.
2. Next, I applied the Coverall Cream Foundation $3.99 in Light. This medium-to full coverage foundation is thicker than a lot of other foundations and has a satin-matte finish. Since I have dry skin, I applied it with a damp BeautyBlender to give it a little more dewiness. I love how flawlessly it covers...I can compare it to much more expensive formulas and it's hard to believe it's only $3.99! The only thing is, this foundation runs dark, so the light is a little too deep for me. Next time I'm at Rite Aid I'll grab a lighter shade.
3. I applied the Illumi-Naughty Highlighting & Concealing Pen ($4.99) in the shade Ivory Into You under my eyes, between my brows (blending up into my forehead a little), around my nose and lips. It's really lightweight and gives good coverage, plus it brightens and adds glow without adding shimmer...love it!
4. Then I went in with the 10-Pan Studio Eyeshadow Palette ($6.99) in Coming in Latte. I used the 6th shade (a taupe matte brown) in my crease, the 5th shade (a shimmery bronze) on my lid concentrating on the outer half and blending across and the 4th shade (a shimmery copper bronze) to brighten the center of my lids a little bit.
5. Since I was going for a natural look (and it's super hot outside and my liner always melts), I skipped eyeliner and went straight for mascara. I used the Max Volume Plus Mascara ($4.99). This formula really plumps up my lashes and I love the brush...it gives you thicker lashes without the clumps.
6. Now that my foundation has set, I went in with the Megaglo Contouring Palette in Dulce de Leche ($4.99). I used the highlight shade (which is matte) to set the concealer under my eyes and to further brighten the area a bit. Then I used the contour shade under my cheekbones. I love how soft and blendable this powder is and the colors are perfect for fair to light skintones like mine. I don't contour very often so I didn't want to invest in an expensive contouring kit...this one is a great, affordable alternative!
7. On my cheeks, I used the Coloricon Blush in Rose Champagne ($2.99). I love how soft and buttery these are and this shade is one of my favorites! It's the perfect dusty rose with gold shimmer.
8. Last, but not least, I'm wearing the Megalast Lip Color ($1.99) in Bare It All. First of all, this color is the perfect peachy nude. Second, this lipstick is super pigmented and doesn't move...I don't need to use a lip liner and it stays within my lip line. Also, the finish is semi-matte and when I first applied it there was a little bit of drag and I was worried about it being too dry. Then I rubbed my lips together and it sort of melted into my lips and took on a very creamy feel. I topped it with a little bit of clear lip balm for a bit of shine (I find it makes my lips look a little plumper) and it stayed for hours! I need this in more colors for sure, especially since it's 2 bucks...crazy!
All of the products I used add up to around $35, which is amazing and I got great results from everything. I can't wait to play some more and create some bolder looks next time!

These sticks have a soft, creamy texture that's blendable and non-greasy. They're meant to be used on eyes, cheeks, lips, and body but I will likely only use them on my cheeks. I don't feel that the colors are suited to my eyes (except maybe the lightest one, Marigold Round as a highlight shade) and I can't really see using these on my body for any reason.
On my lips, they feel comfortable and non-drying, but visually they're kind of a mess. They tend to accentuate every flake and line and have a frosty finish that looks a bit outdated.
Marigold Round is a champagne shade with a hint of pink and it works well as a cheek highlight on my light skin. The shimmer is very fine and comes across as a sheen rather than a glitter. This shade has the most shimmer out of the three shades.
Light Up My High-Biscus is a light rosy pink shade with a shimmery finish that works well as a blush on my light skin. Deeper skin tones may find that this doesn't show up as a blush, and it would likely work best as a highlighter in that case. The shimmer is also very fine in this shade and isn't chunky or glittery.
Carnational Anthem is a peachy coral shade that also works nicely as a blush. It has the least shimmer of the three shades, giving just a very subtle glow. It's also the darkest shade and will show up better on a range of skin tones.
I found that they have an average wear time of about 5-6 hours on my skin...not so terrible that they're sliding off after an hour but not super long-lasting either.
When I first posted a sneak peek of these last week, I got a lot of questions about how they compare to the highlighting sticks from the limited edition Disney's Dare to Dream Pocahontas collection that was at Walgreens over the summer. That collection was made by Markwins, which is Wet n Wild's parent company so naturally I was also very curious about that. I pulled out the two shades that I reviewed last July (see my review here) and right away, the only shade that looked similar was Marigold Round.
I swatched all three side by side and found that Marigold Round is actually very close to the Great Spirit shade in the Pocahontas collection, except that Marigold Round is just ever so slightly more pink. Still, if you already have Great Spirit, you may not even want to bother with Marigold Round, since they look identical when blended out on the skin.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder Review
Highlighters are still a rare find at the drugstore, and finding ones that are high-quality are even harder. Personally, I like highlighters that are smooth and finely milled with no obvious chunks of glitter. I don't mind if they're intense and impactful as long as the finish is more of a pearly sheen vs. disco ball. The L'oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminators I reviewed last summer were too frosty and glittery for me and we really haven't seen single highlighters from brands like Maybelline, Revlon and Rimmel (except inside contour palettes), which forces me to order more affordable versions online from places like Colourpop and City Color.
Thankfully, Wet n Wild has always gotten it right (I loved the Fergie To Reflect highlighters!) so I had no doubt that I was going to love these! Let's take a look...

The darker of the two shades is called Crown of my Canopy and is a peachy bronze shade. This one didn't remind me of any shades that I currently have in my collection so I'm not able to compare it to anything at the moment. It's quite a bit darker than Becca's Champagne Pop, despite having those warm peachy undertones and is way too dark as a highlighter for my fair skin. Still this would be amazing on deeper skin tones!

Here are my swatches in natural lighting. These powders are super pigmented, soft, and easy to pick up with not a lot of fallout. They go on so smooth with no chunky glitter particles, reminding me of much higher-end formulas.
Here's Precious Petals next to Laura Geller's Ballerina and Becca's Opal Pressed. It's pinker than opal, but has almost the same tone as Ballerina...just a little bit lighter. Swatching it next to these higher-end formulas really made me appreciate how great the formula is...it's hard to believe these are only $3.99!
I also posted swatches on my Snapchat (budgetbeauty) yesterday and I made sure to download it since it'll disappear after today. In the video, you can also see the new Wet n Wild Multi-Stick swatches. I'm sorry the quality is so crappy.
I'm not sure if they'll be restocking these for a while or if quantities are really that limited, but if you're looking to get your hands on these, I recommend stalking your local Walgreens sooner rather than later. A lot of people I know on Instagram have told me that by the time they find this display, the highlighters are already gone. The good news is, these should also be showing up at CVS and Kmart as well.

Wet n Wild Summer 2016 Has Landed
Hey everyone! How was your weekend? Ours was good...we took our 2 year old son Henry to a local farm to see the animals and he got to pet a lamb (which he talked about for the rest of the day!). Then we went out to dinner with my family on Saturday night. On Sunday, we saw my husband's family and spent some time outside shopping and enjoying the beautiful weather. It's finally Spring in the northeast!
It especially felt like Spring when I walked into Walgreens Sunday morning to pick up some milk and spotted the new Wet n Wild Summer 2016 collection! I thought it wasn't coming out until May but this past week, a lot of my followers on Instagram started tagging me in their photos of the display (thank you all, by the way!), so I had a feeling I would see it this weekend.
Thankfully the display was mostly full when I got there...a few people have told me that the highlighters were already gone by the time they got to their local Walgreens. My store only had 3 left and the display only holds 6 of them. Not to mention, this is a limited edition collection, once they're gone, they might not be coming back!
First up, let's talk about the Megaglo Highlighting Powders ($3.99). There are two shades...Crown of my Canopy and Precious Petals. In person, they have a gorgeous pearly finish and I can't wait to swatch them!
Next are the Megaglo All-in-One Multi-Sticks ($3.99). These are cream sticks that can be used on eyes, face and body. All three are shimmery and there's a champagne shade, a peachy shade, and a pink shade.
There are also some new Metallic Liquid Lipsticks ($3.99) that come in six shades. I purchased one shade to try and so far, it feels comfortable to wear...it actually feels more like a gloss than a liquid lipstick but it's more pigmented than a gloss, so it's sort of a cross between the two. It gives lots of shine and a somewhat frosty, metallic finish.
I will definitely be posting swatches of the items I bought later today or tomorrow, so stay tuned for those! :)
Even MORE Wet n Wild Sneak Peeks + Swatches
Wet n Wild's Summer 2016 collection can't come fast enough for me...I seriously want it ALL! They just shared some more sneak peeks on their Snapchat tonight, this time of the MegaGlow Multi-Sticks.
First of all, the floral packaging is so adorable and the swatches...

I might be even more excited for these than I am about the powder highlighters! Creams tend to show up a little bit better on my dry skin, which is why Benefit's Watts Up is one of my holy grail highlighters. It doesn't look like any of these will be a dupe for that, but it's hard to tell by the lighting. I'll be sure to compare them when I find these. :)
The Summer 2016 collection is set to hit stores in May which is only two weeks away, so you may want to start checking as some stores might put it out early. I've heard rumors on Instagram that people have already seen these at Walgreens...I checked today and no luck but I'll keep you posted!
Sneak Peek! Wet 'n' Wild Metallic Liquid Lipsticks
The sneak peeks on Instagram just keep rolling in! This one is from one of my favorite accounts to follow, @beautylogicblog (if you're not following her, definitely check her out...she has the best sneak peeks!). At first glance I thought these were glosses, but she says they're liquid lipsticks so I'm thinking they'll be more pigmented! They're coming out in May and will be $2.99 each.

Wet 'n' Wild Geometric Highlighting Powder Review & Swatches
Wet 'n' Wild Geometric Highlighting Powders ($4.99 at Walgreens) are new, limited edition highlighters for Spring that claim to be long-lasting, silky smooth, and blendable. They come in three shades and feature a pretty mosaic pattern. I'm not sure if these are a Walgreens exclusive or if they'll be showing up at CVS, Rite Aid and Target as well. Let's take a look!
New Wet n' Wild at Walgreens
Yesterday I just happened to spot a new Wet n' Wild display way down on a bottom shelf when I was at Walgreens and it had the Geometric Highlighting Powders in it! I've been on the hunt for them ever since Wet n' Wild posted a sneak peek on Instagram a while back, so I was really excited and surprised to see them. Let's take a closer look...
There are also three new Megaliner Liquid Liners in pastel shades. There was no price listed on these so I'm not 100% sure how much they are...I'm assuming $2.69 which is the regular price of them at Walgreens.
Finally, there are two new Coloricon Eyeshadow Trios in pastel shades. These are also limited edition and I'm taking a guess that they're $2.69 like the permanent ones are.
I ended up buying all three highlighting powders, so look for a review of those coming soon! :) Have you seen this display yet? Or tried any of these new limited editons?
