Wet 'n' Wild Geometric Highlighting Powder Review & Swatches

Wet 'n' Wild Geometric Highlighting Powders ($4.99 at Walgreens) are new, limited edition highlighters for Spring that claim to be long-lasting, silky smooth, and blendable. They come in three shades and feature a pretty mosaic pattern. I'm not sure if these are a Walgreens exclusive or if they'll be showing up at CVS, Rite Aid and Target as well. Let's take a look!

When I first saw these, I immediately thought of the Cle De Peau Face Enhancer Luminizing Powder (which is $55 for just the refill). Look how close these look...definite dupe territory! Unfortunately, I don't have these to compare the Wet 'n' Wild version to, but from the reviews I've seen, they seem to give a similar, subtle effect.

The Wet 'n' Wild Geometric Highlighting Powders come in white plastic packaging, similar to their blushes and include a small brush.

Where do Dreamers Go is cool-toned with pastel shades of blue, lavender and cream and has the frostiest finish of the three, yet is still pretty subtle. On my skin it appears white but the shimmer isn't overly glittery and it doesn't accentuate pores.

Desert Explorations has shades of white, tan and pink and has warmer undertones. When swirled together, it appears on the skin as a very pale pink with more of a pearly finish vs. a shimmery one.

Sun Ceremony ended up being the most surprising color for me...I expected a bronzy shade based on the way it looks in the pan, but it ends up being a true gold shade that's very subtle on my fair skin. Again, the finish isn't too strong and it's almost more pearly than shimmery.

These shades can be built up, which is what I had to do here to get them to show up in a photo, but they go on very subtle at first. These aren't "in your face" highlighters, so if you like that strobing look with a noticeable highlight on your cheekbone, you might be disappointed with these. Personally, I liked them because I felt like I had more control over how much to use. Some highlighters go on stronger than I'd like and it's much harder to remove them once you've added too much. With these, I can keep building to my desired finish.
The one downside is that they kick up quite a bit of fallout and dust with a brush due to the softer formula, but I don't mind because the soft silky formula means that they blend really nicely into the skin.

Overall, these are really pretty highlighters and I like the more subtle, refined shimmer compared to some other drugstore formulas like the L'oreal True Match Lumi Highlighters which I found to be too chunky and glittery for my taste.  These are limited edition, so if you're interested in them, I wouldn't hesitate to grab them at your local Walgreens before they're gone!

    1. Since I'm so pale, Where the Dreamers Go shows up best on me...the others blend in a lot more and are really subtle. But I like them for just a hint of glow. They're perfect for everyday. :)

  5. I got Sun Ceremony, and it's pretty subtle, but it's nice to have a subtle option in your stash --it's almost impossible to overdo, no worries about looking like a disco ball ! (Katherine T.)

    1. My thoughts exactly! They're more along the lines of an Ambient powder :)

  8. I saw the Cle Dr Peu highlighter on the Barney's New York website and immediately realized where Wet n Wild got it's inspiration. Some cheaper brands have done their homework in copying seriously high end cosmetics. Props to that.

  9. I think these seem like the effect on the skin is more of a finishing powder rather than a highlighter, more like Hourglass' ambient palette?
