Wet n Wild Coloricon Rainbow Highlighter Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild almost broke the internet a few weeks ago with their new Rainbow Highlighter in Unicorn Glow ($4.99). It's not the first rainbow highlighter to hit the market, but it's certainly the most affordable and I love how Wet n Wild is always right on top of the trends.

At the moment, this is sold out and it will not be in stores (at least as of now). However, the WnW website currently has a place to sign up to be notified when it comes back in stock online. When it sold out the first time, it was restocked again only a week or so later so hopefully it won't be too long before the next wave hits.

Let's take a closer look!

The Rainbow Highlighter contains six shimmery shades that can be used a number of different ways. You can swirl your brush through all the colors or take a flat brush and skim it across certain colors (or combinations of colors). The texture is soft and it goes on smooth with a finely milled shimmer...there's no chunky bits of glitter here. The colors are subtle, so you're not going to look like you painted your face with blue, purple, and stripes. The effect is more of an ethereal glow and you can see faint hints of color as your skin catches the light at different angles.

I decided to swatch it a few different ways so that you can see a few of the different combinations you can make with this highlighter.
In this photo below, I swatched it three different ways:
  1. The first swatch is the pink and orange shades together
  2. The second swatch is the yellow and turquoise shades together
  3. The third swatch is the blue and lavender shades together.

(Please keep in mind that swatching with your finger gives a stronger color result than applying it to your skin with a brush.)

This swatch is all the shades swirled together...I went around with my finger a few times to make sure I grabbed every color. The result for me is a pretty silvery shade but it can vary depending on how you decide to pick up the colors, which color you start and end with, and how many times you swirl it around.

Here's a photo from Wet n Wild that shows what this can look like on the skin. I'm sorry I wasn't able to post a photo of myself wearing it- things have been really busy at home and I haven't had a lot of time to take photographs. Below is also a short 15 second video that shows how they got this look.

Overall, this is a super fun highlighter for an amazing price. I love how you can use it so many different ways and the result is different from all the other highlighters out there!

  4. Ooh this looks gorgeous! What a shame that it is sold out! I really like the pink and orange shade together I think I would have used that one the most, although I think all together looks really good as well! (maybe a bit too shiny haha) lovely review!
