Highlighters are still a rare find at the drugstore, and finding ones that are high-quality are even harder. Personally, I like highlighters that are smooth and finely milled with no obvious chunks of glitter. I don't mind if they're intense and impactful as long as the finish is more of a pearly sheen vs. disco ball. The L'oreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminators I reviewed last summer were too frosty and glittery for me and we really haven't seen single highlighters from brands like Maybelline, Revlon and Rimmel (except inside contour palettes), which forces me to order more affordable versions online from places like Colourpop and City Color.
Thankfully, Wet n Wild has always gotten it right (I loved the Fergie To Reflect highlighters!) so I had no doubt that I was going to love these! Let's take a look...

The darker of the two shades is called Crown of my Canopy and is a peachy bronze shade. This one didn't remind me of any shades that I currently have in my collection so I'm not able to compare it to anything at the moment. It's quite a bit darker than Becca's Champagne Pop, despite having those warm peachy undertones and is way too dark as a highlighter for my fair skin. Still this would be amazing on deeper skin tones!

Here are my swatches in natural lighting. These powders are super pigmented, soft, and easy to pick up with not a lot of fallout. They go on so smooth with no chunky glitter particles, reminding me of much higher-end formulas.
Here's Precious Petals next to Laura Geller's Ballerina and Becca's Opal Pressed. It's pinker than opal, but has almost the same tone as Ballerina...just a little bit lighter. Swatching it next to these higher-end formulas really made me appreciate how great the formula is...it's hard to believe these are only $3.99!
I also posted swatches on my Snapchat (budgetbeauty) yesterday and I made sure to download it since it'll disappear after today. In the video, you can also see the new Wet n Wild Multi-Stick swatches. I'm sorry the quality is so crappy.
I'm not sure if they'll be restocking these for a while or if quantities are really that limited, but if you're looking to get your hands on these, I recommend stalking your local Walgreens sooner rather than later. A lot of people I know on Instagram have told me that by the time they find this display, the highlighters are already gone. The good news is, these should also be showing up at CVS and Kmart as well.
What do you think? Have you tried these yet, or are you hoping to find them?
They're lovely, but way darker than I thought they'd be. Those would be straight-up blushes on me.
ReplyDeleteMy swatches look pretty dark but when I use a brush and it goes on more sheer, I can use Precious Petals and it still works as a highlight. But it's probably the absolute darkest I can go. I'm wishing they made some lighter shades! :)
DeleteI was thinking the exact same thing about how dark they look. I was really hoping for a cooler pink shade too, good DS ones seem so HTF!
DeleteThese seem so gorgeous and high-quality for Wet n Wild. Hoping that the one Walgreens in VT gets them soon!

I hope you find them soon Rachel! I know you're always saying you guys are the last to get everything, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya. :)
DeleteI've been searching for reviews on these, thanks for getting this out there so quickly! I haven't even seen them yet but when I do, Precious Petals is coming home with me! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI bought Crown of my Canopy hoping to use it as I get tan in the summer. I have several highlighters that are light, but I think I may get Precious Petals if I get to Walgreen's soon and it is not sold out!
ReplyDeleteWow, these look great. Thanks for doing a review. I went to Kmart yesterday and they didn't have any of WnW's spring items.
ReplyDeleteI've been stalking my local Walgreens and finally lucked out today --a fresh, untouched display at BOGO 50% off, which I promptly pounced on! I got the Precious Petals highlighter (pretty!), a pretty purple gloss (Indulge Your Way, metallic finish) and purple nail polish ( Wild Wild Violet) for like $ 8 total, and I'm loving it all :) Katherine T.
ReplyDeleteWnW is killing it! I'm just loving them right now! :D
ReplyDeleteLove love love precious petals... finally found mine at CVS... if you see it definitely buy it
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know if they are in selling them in Washington State? I have been to 5 Walgreens and 2 Rite Aids and have not even seen a display for these :(
