Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lipsticks Swatches

I have some exciting news for all of you matte liquid lipstick fans...a new drugstore option is here and it's only $2.99!!! A few lovely ladies on Instagram spotted the new Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lipsticks at Kmart and I have some photos and swatches to share with you.
I was just at Kmart last week and spotted a bunch of new things (see that post here) but these must have arrived since then. I definitely have to go back and check them out now because I have always been impressed with Jordana products. Their Best Lash Extreme mascara is one of my holy grail formulas and I also love their lip crayons. I'm hoping that these new lipsticks aren't too drying, but I guess we'll see!

From this photo below from @swatchesgalore on Instagram, it appears that there are ten shades, but don't quote me on that because the photo is cut off on the right hand side.

Next, my pal @themakeupblock on Instagram posted swatches of the two shades she bought...Creme Brulee and Tiramisu. She said that they smell exactly like the LipKits by Kylie and Milani Amore Mattes and that they're super pigmented and even with one swatch!

Here's a few more shades, swatched by @nailmatticbeauty on Instagram. Left to right: Tiramisu, Raspberry Tart (which she said is a little patchy), Mixed Berry Souffle, Cherry Cobbler, Sweet Marsala Wine, and Rose Macaron.

The L'oreal Pro-Matte Glosses are Back!

Earlier this week, I spotted the new (and now permanent) L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Glosses at Walgreens and wanted to show you the new shade range. You may remember me reviewing this formula back in January but those six shades were limited edition and disappeared from stores shortly after that. The new permanent Pro-Matte range has ten shades so there are a few more choices when it comes to color. Let's take a look!

I pulled up my photo of the limited edition range to compare the shades to the new range and it looks like they brought back five of the old limited edition shades (with the exception of Tantalizing Tangerine).  In the new collection, they have the same names, just different numbers.

The shades in the new, permanent line are:

300 Blushing Ambition (from the ltd range), 302 Fuchsia Amnesia (from the ltd range), 304 Rebel Rose (new shade), 306 Aphrodite Kiss (from the ltd range), 308 Shanghai Scarlet (new shade), 310 Forbidden Kiss (new shade) 312 Rouge Envy (from the ltd range), 314 Nude Allude (from the ltd range), 316 Statement Nude (new shade) and 318 Bare Attraction (new shade).

The old limited edition collections (apologies for the blurry photo):
Blushing Ambition, Fuchsia Amnesia, Tantalizing Tangerine, Aphrodite Kiss, Rouge Envy and Nude Allude

I'm so excited that they included two nude/light shades in the new collection! My biggest complaint with the limited edition range was that even the lightest color was on the darker side.
Are you excited that L'oreal is relaunching the Pro-Matte Gloss? What do you think about the new shades?

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Liquid Lipcolor Review & Swatches

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Liquid Lipcolor ($9.49 at Rite Aid) is a brand new release from Revlon that's been showing up in stores the past week or so, and since I've always had good luck with their lip products, I decided to give them a try. I actually got them on sale for $5.69 with my Rite Aid Card, but I feel like the original price is kind of steep for a drugstore lip product, right? I don't know...I just feel like the drugstore brands are starting to creep up into the next price category lately.

Anyway, you guys probably know how I feel about matte lipcolor...we just don't get along at all. I have naturally dry lips that tend to show lines easily and when you combine that with a drying matte formula, it looks pretty darn terrible...my lips get all prune-y and shriveled looking like I'm 80 years old. But I'm always on the hunt for a more moisturizing matte formula and based on the claims for these, I figured it was worth a shot. Let's take a closer look...

Friday Faves- Liquid Lipstick Edition

I'm back with another edition of Friday Faves (how is it Friday already, seriously?), where I talk about my favorite products of-the-moment, both drugstore and high end. This week, I'm featuring my favorite liquid lipsticks (non-matte) in my favorite shades of mauve.  I've never been a red lipstick girl and nude washes me out terribly, but mauves just seem to work well with my complexion and are great for everyday as well as when I'm dressing up.

So let's get started!

Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick Review & Swatches

Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick ($22 at Sephora) is a brand new line of full-coverage lipsticks that come in 30 shades of both satin and matte finishes. It's a lightweight gel formula that claims to give intense pigmentation in one swipe. For those of you not familiar with the brand, Buxom is part of the same company that owns Bare Minerals and is all about bold vivid colors and sexy packaging...sort of like Bare Minerals' wild younger sister. Let's take a look!

Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix Review & Swatches

I was so excited when Colourpop recently launched a line of Sheer Lippie Stix ($5 each). Before they were released, I thought about ordering some of their matte liquid lipsticks but they sold out in a hot minute and then I decided it was probably for the best. I've tried enough matte liquid lipsticks to know that they're not for me. I've always had really dry skin and my lips have quite a few lines in them now that I'm in my mid-thirties so I'm at the point where I try to look for moisturizing lipsticks, balms and glosses. Anything that feels dry or accentuates my lines is just a bad, bad idea, no matter how trendy it is.
So getting back to these...I was so happy to see a sheer, moisturizing formula (they're enriched with coconut oil) that I jumped online and ordered all 8 shades, because, well...they're $5 and they're Colourpop so that's all I needed to know! Let's take a look...

Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix are Now Available!

The Colourpop Sheer Lippie Stix were supposed to launch tomorrow but they're already available on the site
So if you've been wanting to try them, don't wait...the liquid mattes sold out really fast last time...I totally missed out! Happy shopping! I'd love to hear what colors you chose in the comments below! I got them all to review here on the blog, but I'm most excited about Crunch, Kiddo, and Juice Bar!

You can grab these now at Colourpop.com!

Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm Creams Review and Swatches

Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm Creams ($6.79) are brand new for Summer 2015 and I recently spotted the display at Bed, Bath and Beyond (see that post here to view all the shades). When I first saw these, I thought they were the same Jumbo Gloss Balms that have been out for a while now, but then I realized that these said, "Creams".  So I bought two shades to review and swatch for you guys! Let's take a look...

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Review and Swatches

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Lipstick ($25) is brand new and is the first Lipstick Queen product I've tried. I've been hearing about the brand for quite a while on various blogs and on YouTube but I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on one...until now. The Frog Prince was one of my favorite stories growing up...I used to watch it over and over on VHS with my sisters when we were kids. Our favorite was a version that was made in the 1980's with Helen Hunt as the mean sister Henrietta and Aileen Quinn (Annie!) as Princess Zora. Ok, now that I'm talking about it I want to see it again but I'm pretty sure the tape we had is completely worn out...and I don't have a VCR anymore.  Time to check YouTube, haha! Anyway, I digress, I'm supposed to be talking about lipstick.  Let's take a look...

Tarte Park Ave Princess Amazonian Butter Lipstick Review Swatches

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Park Ave Princess ($17 at Sephora) is a brand new shade for Spring 2015. I haven't tried the Amazonian Butter lipsticks before now, so this is my first one. I absolutely love Tarte's Park Ave Princess bronzer...I've been using it for close to 10 years and it's the perfect shade for my fair skin...it's not too orange or muddy and it's matte which is really important to me.  So, I thought this would be a great compliment to it! Let's take a look...
Tarte Park Ave Princess Amazonian Butter Lipstick Review Swatches
When I first heard about this shade, I assumed it would be bronze, but it's actually a nude with a little hint of pink in it.  It's really beautiful and I think it's a great companion to bronzed summer skin. I'm naturally pale and nude lipsticks normally wash me out pretty bad...this one doesn't due to the little hint of pink in it.  But I still think it'll look better when I have a little color in my face.

New Makeup Sets Available at Ulta

There are some cute new Ulta sets that just arrived today at Ulta.com. I haven't tried any of Ulta's brand yet but I'm thinking about trying one or more of these sets because they're a great value and a good way to try out the brand.

The Liquid Lipstick Kit ($10) features three highly pigmented liquid lipsticks with a glossy finish, plus a primer and brush!

The Take Me There Eyeshadow Palette ($12) features 16 highly pigmented eyeshadows, a double-ended brush, and an eyeshadow primer that's specially designed to grab onto shimmer and glitter particles to hold them in place for an all day look with no smudging or fallout.

The Eye Liner Treasure Chest ($14) features 10 different eyeliners in a range of shades to take you from day to night. Practically every color you would ever need is in here!

The Creamy Crayons Set ($15) features three jumbo eye crayons plus a primer for all day staying-power. These can be used as eyeliners or blended out as an eyeshadow all over the lid.

The Nail Pail ($14) contains 8 beachy shades in a collectors edition pail.  They're all formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene free.
Which of these new items is on your wishlist? They're all so pretty, it's hard to choose!

Too Faced Melted Metal Liquified Metallic Lipstick Review and Swatches

Too Faced Melted Metal Liquified Metallic Lipstick ($21, Sephora) are brand new for Summer 2015 and they're a fun, shimmery take on their original Melted lipsticks. I couldn't wait to post a review and swatches for you guys because I love the originals and was hoping I'd like these even more.  So let's take a look...
too faced melted metal lipstick review and swatches

The packaging looks very close to the originals with some subtle differences.  The boxes are shiny and they added the word "metal" to both the box and the tube. The caps are a shiny gold vs. more of a brushed gold on the original version. Other than that, everything is the same, right down to the applicator.

I ended up choosing 3 shades...Peony, Debutante and Dream House.  Peony and Debutante are subtler shades similar to what I would normally wear, but Dream House is much brighter and was a bit of a wild card pick for me.  I wanted to review a brighter shade but I had a hard time choosing because I don't normally think I look good in brighter shades.  In the end, I chose Dream House because of it's cooler, blue undertones, since I have cool-toned skin.

Spotted in Stores! New L'Oreal 2013 Products- Miracle Blur, True Match Crayon Concealer, Colour Caresse Aqua Lacquer, Age Perfect BB Cream and more!

I've been sick with the flu for a while, so I haven't had a chance to get out or do any reviews the past week or so.  But yesterday I was able to get out and at Walgreens, I spotted some new L'oreal and Maybelline products that look amazing (and of course I bought some for review).  This post will cover the new L'oreal products and I'll post the Maybelline in a separate post.

The display is so pretty and spring-like!

First is True Match Concealer Crayon.  I actually love the convenience of a crayon as opposed to liquid concealer, but in past experience, crayons were a bit heavy and accentuated fine lines around my eyes.  But I'm hoping this one is different!

Next up is Colour Caresse Aqua Lacquer.  I was totally in love with the Colour Caresse lipsticks that came out over the summer, so I immediately bought one of these.  It's a gloss/stain, and while I'll do a full review on this in the next few days, I can tell you now, that I'm really impressed with it based on my first use.  The color lasted a long time and my lips stayed shiny and moist!  The display in the picture below is a bit of a mess...people must have been picking it over like crazy.

Next is Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother and Finishing Cream and Age Perfect BB Cream.  I bought Miracle Blur, because I was in need of a new primer and it was pretty expensive at $24.  I tried a little on my hand and it's super thick- almost difficult to squeeze out of the tube.  But it has a nice matte finish and definitely seemed to fill in lines.  I'll do a full review on it soon.  The Age Perfect BB Cream is for mature skin.  I didn't splurge on it yet, but eventually I will.  I'm hoping it'll work well on my dry skin.

Last is Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara.  I didn't buy this yet either because I bought Maybelline's new mascara, but I know I'll be back to try it soon.

There were also some new eyeshadow palette shades and new nail polish shades.  Unfortunately I didn't get any close up shots of those, but you can see them in the first picture.
Have you tried any of these new products yet?  If not, which ones are you excited to try?

Fall 2012 Makeup Trends for Less Part 1- Wine Burgundy Colored Lips

Fall is upon us, and there are tons of trends gracing the red carpet and the runways for fall.  First up, is a dark, vampy deep red lip in wine or black cherry.  Celebs like Kate Bosworth, Camilla Belle, Jessica Alba and Katy Perry have been spotted rocking the trend, as well as on the runways at Nina Ricci and YSL to name a few.

There are tons of new lip shades hitting the drugstores that are perfect for embracing the trend, if you're brave enough to try it (not sure if I am yet!).

Here are my picks for Fall 2012:

Maybelline Color Sensational in Deepest Cherry and Plum Perfect.  I love Color Sensational's honey nectar formula for it's super-moisturizing properties and smooth feel.  These colors are the perfect wine/burgundy shades, like Kate Bosworth's lips above.

Maybelline Color Sensational in Deepest Cherry

Maybelline Color Sensational in Plum Perfect

A great long-wearing option is L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge in Persistent Plum.  This wine shade will last for hours and hours while vitamin E keeps your lips moisturized. This plummy shade is similar to Katy Perry's look above.

L'Oreal's new Rouge Caresse is a lightweight lip color that stains your lips with a barely there feel.
This shade in Satiny Cocoa is almost a brick red similar to Camilla Belle's look above.

Cover Girl's Lip Perfection in Enamor is a dark red-brown and the highly pigmented, yet moisturizing formula will last for hours and hours.

Revlon's Just Bitten Balm Stain is a super moisturizing stain that lasts all day with no dryness.  I really like this shade called Crush for fall 2012.

If you're not quite ready to go this dark, there are some gloss/balm options that will give you a wine/burgundy tint.

I'm totally in love with Yes To Carrots Color Balm in Soft Plum.  It reminds me of Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.  It gives a plummy tint, without much drama.  See my review HERE.

Another great option is Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter in Fig Jam. These are more pigmented than a lot of balms on the market, but still sheerer than a lipstick.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Balm in Plum.  While not quite as pigmented as Revlon's Lip Butter, this option will work for those who just want a hint of plum-wine tint.

Sp, will you be embracing bold dark lips this season?  I'll probably be sticking to my nude shades, since I don't think dark shades look good on me, although I have been known to slick on a darker balm once in a while!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of Fall 2012 Makeup Trends tomorrow!
