Physicians Formula Nude Wear Touch of Glow Highlighter Concealer Review

Sometimes, a product's packaging is so darn adorable, that I just have to have it. The new Physicians Formula Nude Wear line is so pretty, I had to practice major restraint to only buy one product (I am on a budget after all!).
So I settled on the Touch of Glow Highlighter and Concealer, which I thought could be a drugstore dupe for YSL's Touche Eclat (more on that in a little bit!). But first, the packaging, OMG!!!

Rose gold, a faux pink pebbled leather grip, a pretty bow...what's not to love about this? It looks so luxe and would look great in your purse.

Ok, ok, I'll shut up about the packaging now. On to the stuff inside! Physicians Formula says this is a concealer, highlighter and touch up tool, with perfecting nude pigments, beautiful bare skin effect, and skin glowing finish. Hmm...sounds like another product I know and love, Touche Eclat.

Touche Eclat comes in several different shades, and mine is the lightest of them, Radiance 01, which is pinky-beige.  The Nude Touch only comes in one color, and is darker than my Touche Eclat shade, but would probably come close to or match one of the darker Touche shades.  Both come in pen form with a brush applicator - Touche Eclat has a click button at the bottom to dispense the product, while the Nude Touch is a twist up.

Here they are swatched side by side- Physicians Formula Nude Touch on the left and Touche Eclat on the right.  The Nude Touch is just a tad thicker, and would provide a little bit more coverage than Touche Eclat.  But, being thicker means it may accentuate fine lines a bit more. That's one of the reasons I love Touche Eclat- it's very thin and doesn't settle into my lines at all.

Here they are blended out a bit more.  You can see that both give the skin luminosity with a hint of coverage.

So if lines aren't a major concern for you, or if you'd like a little more coverage out of your highlighter, Nude Touch may be your perfect Touche Eclat dupe (in prettier packaging)!  I hope Physicians Formula releases some more shades, since I have fair skin and I like my highlighters to be on the lighter side.  For now, Nude Touch should accommodate a large number of skintones from light/medium to dark since it is very sheer and is used to highlight.  Only the fairest of complexions may find it too dark/yellow for them.

I'll add this to my Dupes Board on Pinterest as a legit YSL Touche Eclat dupe!

L'Oreal Visible Lift CC Concealer Review- Spring 2014

L'Oreal has some of their new Spring 2014 products out at Bed Bath and Beyond.  I shared a photo of some new Infallible Eyeshadow colors on my Facebook page, and today I wanted to review the Visible Lift CC Concealer.
I didn't like this at first.  I applied some to my hand and it appeared runny and thin, and I thought, "this isn't going to cover anything" and left it on the bathroom counter.  The next night, I looked in the mirror and noticed a bit of darkness under my eyes and picked it up again, figuring I bought it, I might as well try it!
I actually really like it!  Here's some details:
It has a rollerball applicator, which I like because it works well with the thin consistency and makes application a snap.
The formula is thin, like a serum texture, and if you have major dark circles, this isn't going to work for you.  However, if you have some minor concealing to do, this does a great job.  It also doesn't settle into lines at all, even after building up the coverage, so if that's a concern for you, you'll really love this.

It covered the darkness/slight redness under and around my eyes and I was surprised at how flawless I looked, considering I almost didn't give this a chance.  Sometimes a thicker concealer ages you, even though it covers more, because it settles into lines and can look matte and cakey.  This feels light and has a luminous finish (not shimmery, don't worry).

Give this a try if you're in the market for a nice concealer to hide minor to medium flaws.  I'm glad I did!

L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer and Swatches

I'm a bit obsessed with finding the right concealer and am always on the lookout for something that will make my under eye area look flawless without caking or settling into lines.
I was drawn to L'Oreal's new True Match Crayon Concealer because it seemed like a really convenient option, especially since I'm usually in a hurry in the morning.

It comes in a chubby crayon stick that twists up from the bottom.  There's really no way to sharpen it, but I've been using it on the sides, rather than directly on the point, and that seems to keep the point pretty sharp.

This is super easy to use- just swipe it anywhere you need coverage and quickly blend with your finger.  The formula is really creamy and easy to blend with medium coverage.
The downside is that it did settle into lines under my eyes a little bit, even after using moisturizer and primer, so I feel that it could have been a little more moisturizing for that purpose.  But the point tip makes it so easy to conceal other areas, such as around the nose, and in the inner corner of the eyes and eyelids.  I use it in those places, and absolutely love the results.  I just won't be using this as an under eye concealer.
Here's a swatch of shade # N-1-2-3.

Overall, this is a great option to throw in your bag and pull out for quick touch ups.  It covers imperfections well and is easy to work with.  Even though it didn't work for me under the eyes, it gives great results on other areas of the face.
Have you tried this yet?  What do you think?

Spotted in Stores! New Maybelline 2013 Products- The Lifter Foundation, Eraser Dark Spot,The Rocket Mascara and More!

At Walgreens yesterday, I spotted Maybelline's Spring 2013 line, and it's got me really excited!

First, their newest foundation from the Age Rewind collection The Lifter.  This is foundation and primer in one, and is supposed to have a lifting effect on the skin.  I bought one, and will be reviewing it soon!  There's also the Perfector powder which is supposed to smooth the skin.

Next is the Eraser Dark Spot concealer. It's packaged like the regular Eraser but this one is also a treatment to help get rid of darkness and spots- pretty cool!  I also bought one of these, and will be doing a review soon.

Next are some new Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow shades!  There's a pretty Rose shade, a light silver, bright yellow, the same beige that launched with the limited edition brown shades in the fall, and a navy blue.

Finally, a new Volum Express mascara called The Rocket.  This is supposed to have a very rigid brush to deposit more product at the roots for bigger volume.  I also bought this, so check back soon for a review!
There were also new Color Sensational lipstick shades, and a double ended eyeliner that has both thick and thin brushes, which I didn't get photos of, unfortunately.

Has anyone tried these products yet?  If not, which ones are you most excited about?

Spotted in Stores! New L'Oreal 2013 Products- Miracle Blur, True Match Crayon Concealer, Colour Caresse Aqua Lacquer, Age Perfect BB Cream and more!

I've been sick with the flu for a while, so I haven't had a chance to get out or do any reviews the past week or so.  But yesterday I was able to get out and at Walgreens, I spotted some new L'oreal and Maybelline products that look amazing (and of course I bought some for review).  This post will cover the new L'oreal products and I'll post the Maybelline in a separate post.

The display is so pretty and spring-like!

First is True Match Concealer Crayon.  I actually love the convenience of a crayon as opposed to liquid concealer, but in past experience, crayons were a bit heavy and accentuated fine lines around my eyes.  But I'm hoping this one is different!

Next up is Colour Caresse Aqua Lacquer.  I was totally in love with the Colour Caresse lipsticks that came out over the summer, so I immediately bought one of these.  It's a gloss/stain, and while I'll do a full review on this in the next few days, I can tell you now, that I'm really impressed with it based on my first use.  The color lasted a long time and my lips stayed shiny and moist!  The display in the picture below is a bit of a mess...people must have been picking it over like crazy.

Next is Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother and Finishing Cream and Age Perfect BB Cream.  I bought Miracle Blur, because I was in need of a new primer and it was pretty expensive at $24.  I tried a little on my hand and it's super thick- almost difficult to squeeze out of the tube.  But it has a nice matte finish and definitely seemed to fill in lines.  I'll do a full review on it soon.  The Age Perfect BB Cream is for mature skin.  I didn't splurge on it yet, but eventually I will.  I'm hoping it'll work well on my dry skin.

Last is Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara.  I didn't buy this yet either because I bought Maybelline's new mascara, but I know I'll be back to try it soon.

There were also some new eyeshadow palette shades and new nail polish shades.  Unfortunately I didn't get any close up shots of those, but you can see them in the first picture.
Have you tried any of these new products yet?  If not, which ones are you excited to try?

New Products at CVS! Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation, Revlon Colorstay Timeless Perfection Concealer and more!

I'm so happy that the new 2013 continue to hit the drugstores early!  Every day there's something new to talk about.

Today I was at CVS in CT, and saw some new products.  So without prolonging the suspense, here they are!

Cover Girl Outlast 3-in-1 Stay Fabulous Foundation

This foundation has a built-in primer & concealer to help it last all day.  I love that it comes in a pump bottle!  I purchased it in Buff Beige which is my usual Cover Girl shade- I'm guessing they're the same all around?  Review coming shortly!

Revlon Colorstay Timeless Perfection Concealer

This one claims to have 24 hour wear with a time release formula.  I love concealers and am always on the lookout for one that covers well but doesn't settle into fine lines or cake under the eyes.  I bought this also, so I'll be reviewing it soon!

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Liquid Makeup

I'm so excited about this one and I've been waiting for Sally Hansen to do this for a long time!  I loved the results of the original Airbrush Legs spray, but hated the application.  It was super messy and left overspray all over my bathroom.  I can't wait to try this out. I wanted to buy it in medium, but it's already sold out.

Almay Smart Shade Mousse Makeup

Since mousse makeup has been hit or miss for me with other brands, I didn't buy this one right away, but I know I'll eventually try it out.  I love the thought of poreless coverage, and have been hoping for a mousse that works well on my dry skin.  Hopefully this will be it!  Below, some close-ups of the shades and blushes.

Has anyone tried any of these products yet?  If not, which one are you most excited about?

Nip + Fab Eye Fix Review

I heard a while back that the brand Nip + Fab, which was created by Rodial's Maria Hatzistefanis, was going to be in Target, but I just recently discovered it in my local store.
According to Maria, she created Nip + Fab because she "saw a gap in the market for a serious, mass market range to help women and men achieve results in double-quick time, with minimum fuss and without the expense."
There were so many interesting looking products in the line to choose from, I had a really hard time. but since I'm such a concealer freak,  I finally settled on Eye Fix, for my first purchase.
Eye Fix is a 2-in1 eye cream + concealer.  According to the Nip + Fab Website
"Give the skin around your eyes a softer, fresher, more radiant appearance with this 2-in-1 eye cream + concealer. Enriched with hydrating, plumping hyaluronic acid, softening glycerin and cucumber extract to reduce the appearance of puffiness, this clever eye boosting cream will instantly hide imperfections and dark circles with light reflecting particles to leave you looking younger, bright eyed and ready to face the day.
  • hyaluronic acid hydrates + plumps fine lines
  • cucumber extract soothes + helps reduce puffiness
  • light reflecting particles brighten + conceals dark circles"
Eye Fix comes in a twist up pen applicator with a brush.  I love the sleek, white packaging.

Here's some packaging shots:

One downside is that this formula comes in only one color right now...it's a nude-pink shade.  On me, it's absolutely a perfect match... but I have light skin with pink undertones.  I'm hoping that they make this in some darker shades in the future.  So here's what the color looks like when it first comes out (not blended in):
The first time I used this, I was blown away by the coverage.  It's not a super thick product, but it covers dark circles really well and also gives a bit of illumination to brighten the eye area. Kind of like a Touche Eclat that covers better!   Even though this claims to be an eye cream too, I didn't find it to be moisturizing enough, so I used an eye cream first, and then applied this.  However, since this does have a bit of moisture in it in the form of Hylauronic Acid, it doesn't sink into wrinkles! It's brilliant.
Here's my before and after: Before on the left (just after I woke up) and After applying Eye Fix (and mascara) on the right:
My whole eye area just looks so much brighter.  I used the product underneath and all around the eye, blending down into the cheek area just a little because I have some freckles and sun damage there.  (The packaging also says you can use this anywhere on the face as a concealer).

I'm in love with this and can't wait to try more Nip + Fab products!  They're affordable and so far, totally live up to their claims.
Eye Fix is $9.95 at Target.com and in Target stores.
