About a month ago, I was in Sephora and one of my friends who works there kept raving about the new Farmacy Lip Bloom lip treatments ($16.50 each) At the time, I didn't really need another lip balm, but I kept it in the back of my mind for next time. So when I was recently offered the chance to try one, I jumped at the chance, especially after doing some research into the brand. Founded in New York, the owner, Mark Veeder discovered Echinacea Greenenvy, a variety of echinacea purpurea that contains the highest known levels of cichoric acid which is an antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical attack and helps to even skintone. It's grown on a small farm in upstate NY and is in all of Farmacy's products. Once grown, it's transported just a few hours to the lab where it's combined with nature's most effective ingredients to create the Farmacy skincare line. So today, I'll be reviewing their Lip Bloom in Apple Rosemary and also giving away their Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm (which is amazing by the way) to five lucky readers. Let's take a look!
Brand Description: This soothing herb-infused balm forms a protective barrier on the lips, leaving them smoother, softer, and fuller. The formula contains Echinacea GreenEnvy™, a unique, patent-protected variant of echinacea purpurea that contains the highest known concentration of cichoric acid, which helps protect the skin. Castor seed oil provides a plant-based protective film that helps preserve natural hydration levels. Sunflower seed oil helps maintain the skin’s barrier function with high levels of emollients derived from natural essential fatty acids. Price/Where to Buy: $16.50 at Farmacybeauty.com and Sephora.com
Farmacy Lip Blooms come in six delicious flavors such as Strawberry Basil, Vanilla Mint, and Honey Ginger, to name a few. I've been using Apple Rosemary for about a week now and I'm addicted to the scent! It smells mainly like apple to my nose, but since I've never owned an apple scented lip balm before it's a unique experience for me. It smells so fresh and crisp, yet sweet at the same time.
It comes in a cute little white pot with a mirrored lid, and while I love the look of the packaging, I'm not a fan of lip balms in jars...mainly for hygienic reasons, but also because it's a little messier than just slicking on a balm in a tube.
The balm itself feels hard in the jar at first, but melts into your lips on contact and feels so silky and smooth with no stickiness at all. I kept rubbing my lips together because it just feels so nice (and the scent sticks around too!) It gives a nice shine to your lips when you first apply it and eventually absorbs completely, so it's perfect for wearing with lipstick/gloss because it's not heavy or greasy. Since it's not quite as thick and hydrating as some of the balms I use as overnight treatments, I mainly wear this during the daytime. When the weather gets a little warmer and I don't need an intensive treatment, this may be enough for me to wear at night too.
Overall, if you're looking for a natural lip balm that smells amazing and makes your lips feel like silk, you'll definitely want to check out the Farmacy Lip Blooms!
Another Farmacy product I have fallen in love with is the Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm ($48 at Sephora). It looks like a solid balm in the jar but as soon as your fingers touch it, it melts into a soft oil that makes your skin feel like pure velvet. It absorbs really well (at least into my dry skin) with no greasy residue, unlike a lot of other oils I've tried. I've been wearing it on top of my nightly skincare products and it seals everything in and plumps up my skin. In the morning, I literally can't stop touching my face, it's so soft.
Farmacy was nice enough to send me five Sleep Tight balms to give away (they're smaller travel sizes, not full size), so you can experience it for yourself. You can enter below...good luck! :)
