BH Cosmetics Wild & Alluring Palette Review & Swatches

bh cosmetics wild & alluring palette
I had planned to purchase the BH Cosmetics Wild & Alluring Palette ($18, Currently $8 on sale) over the summer when it first launched but I was waiting until I had a larger order (I have a really hard time ordering just one thing online, haha) and so I kept putting it off.
Now it's October and looking at this palette gives me such a summery, mermaid vibe! The good news is, there are several deeper shades in here that are actually very fall-like, so I feel like this is definitely a palette I can wear year-round.
Let's take a closer look...

First...the packaging! I love anything that's blue (or turquoise or mint) and I also have a weakness for beachy-themed stuff so this palette is both of those rolled into one...it puts me in a good mood just looking at it.

The inside is even prettier than the outside! It has a mirror and nine marbled baked eyeshadows, a baked blush and a highlighter. Each eyeshadow has a few different colors running through it so the effect is stunning when you look at it, especially set against the vibrant turquoise background.

From the BH Cosmetics website:

Make a splash with our Wild & Alluring Baked Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette, a sunlit selection of marbleized, super-pigmented baked powders that features nine shadows, a golden coral blush and a rich bronze highlighter in a slim, ocean-blue, mirrored case. The shimmering shadows include bright coppers, pinks and aquas, plus sea green, gold, and ivory, and apply effortlessly to illuminate your eyes with radiant color. Take the plunge!

These are baked eyeshadows so they do have that drier texture you would expect from baked products. But that's not a bad thing...just think of how gorgeous Milani's baked blushes are (or Laura Geller's for that matter!). The great part is, these can be used wet or dry and I've swatched them both ways for you below:

When I swatched them dry, I was impressed by the pigmentation and how smoothly they go on, especially for something so shimmery! I'm loving the four shades all the way to the right to create some fall eye looks, as well as the darkest shade all the way to the left. The blues, greens, and pink are just stunning as well!

Eyeshadows Swatched Dry
I was even more impressed when I used them wet! I just sprayed a little bit of setting spray on my brush (or finger in this case) and they went from pretty shimmery eyeshadows to intense, foiled liquid metal! Well okay maybe not metal, but that's what they look like in real life...the photos don't even do it justice. Below is one swipe of each shade dampened with the L'oreal Infallible Setting Spray.

I don't usually wear my eyeshadows foiled like this for every day, but what I've been doing is putting down a wet layer first to create a base and then blending the same color dry on top...that way it has amazing staying power and intensity but without that foiled finish.

The blush and highlighter are equally as gorgeous! This is what they look like swatched dry...they're just beautiful! Sadly, the highlighter is too dark for my skin tone to use as a highlight (and too shimmery to use as a bronzer) but it makes a great neutral eyeshadow that pairs beautifully with any of the shades above.

Overall, this is such a beautiful and fun palette and I'm so glad I added it to my last BH Cosmetics order! Right now it's a steal at only $8...grab yours now at BHCosmetics.com

  4. I bought this over the summer and couldn't be happier. Sometimes BH is hit-or-miss but they got this one just right! Every color is perfection. I'm actually dressing up as a mermaid for halloween this year and will be using this palette for my eye look.

  9. Thankyou for the swatches! Have you found that you must always use an eye shadow base with these to ensure they last all day? This is something I find to be a problem with some eye shadow palletes...I think I just need to find a more comfortable eye shadow primer for the everyday!
The look of these eye shadows with the wet application is insane! I love the foiled/metallic look especially the first 3 on the right of your arm- such amazing colours to work with.
I agree with above, sometimes BH Cosmetics can be a little hit-or-miss, but it looks like they've hit the nail on the head with this one. I've always put off my BH order, as I'm in Australia and shipping can really add up if I don't order enough products to make it worth it...but it looks like I'm going to have to get this and a few other things per your recommendation!
Thank you for your post, I hope you continue posting fab reviews!
