There's nothing more annoying than looking in the mirror a few hours into the day and seeing black smudges under your eyes. So I had to put this to the test to see how it held up to it's claims. Take a look!
Packaging:
Stay Perfect comes in a gold tube and the brush is a medium sized plastic bristle brush. The spikes on the brush are a little bit shorter than a lot of other mascaras I've used with this type of brush, but I found that it grips the lashes well.
Formula:
This formula works by wrapping your lashes in tiny "tubes" of color. Once they've been applied, they stay put until you take them off, and this is why this formula doesn't smudge. I find that it dries really fast so you don't have the time to build more than two coats before it gets stiff. It did leave my lashes feeling a bit crunchy for the rest of the day. The first night when I took my makeup off, I used only water, per the instructions (they say to wet a cotton pad with warm water and hold it over your lashes for 20 seconds, then wipe away). The first time I did this, when I pulled the cotton pad away, I almost had a heart attack. It looked like all of my lashes had come off - I saw all of these long, black thread-like pieces. Then I looked in the mirror and realized all my lashes were still there...it was the tubes...OK, phew!
Removal is so super easy with this. Usually, I have to saturate a cotton pad with eye makeup remover, then I use an oil cleanser, and even after that, there's always some left over that migrates under my eyes during the night, and I have to use makeup remover again in the morning before my shower. So the fact that this comes off quickly and completely with water is like a miracle! I woke up totally smudge-free too.
I also slept in this one night- a big no-no but it was my true test, because even the most smudge-resistant formulas always end up under my eyes if I sleep in them. I woke up with absolutely nothing under my eyes and my lashes still had the mascara on them, like I had just applied it!
Results/Before and After:
Unfortunately, when it comes to volume and length, this mascara falls a little short. Because it dries so fast, I'm not able to build up as many coats as I usually do so I don't get dramatic results from this. But for every day, it's perfectly fine, especially since we're still having warm weather and having mascara that stays put is well worth it! Today, I tried a little experiment, and used one of my regular mascaras to get lots of volume and length, then I sealed it with a quick coat of Stay Perfect. I didn't experience any smudging during the day, so I think this is a great way to get the best of both worlds!
