Bite Beauty Opal Lip Gloss ($22 at Sephora) is a brand new pearlescent lip gloss in a stunning opal shade. When I saw this at Sephora last week, I couldn't wait to try it because it's so different from anything else out there! It can be worn alone or layered over other lip colors to change the base color and add a pearly sheen. There's also an Opal lipstick in the collection and both products can also be used as a highlighter on cheeks. Let's take a look!
New Lip Products for Fall 2015
August 2, 2015

The Fall 2015 makeup collections have been hitting the stores the past several weeks and there are some exciting new lip products that have just been released from Bite Beauty, Urban Decay, Pur Minerals and Buxom. Let's take a look...
Bite Beauty Opal Creme Lip Gloss ($22) adds a pearlescent ultraviolet cast to bare lips or any lip color. I just picked this up the other day and I'm already obsessed with the color. It adds a perfect glow with a touch of violet, pink or blue depending on the angle. I've been wearing it by itself but I want to test it over other lip products to see how it enhances/changes them before I post a full review. Also, I want to mention that there's an Opal lipstick as well if you prefer that formula to a gloss.
Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick ($22) has a lightweight gel formula that delivers high-pigment, one stroke color. It also comes in an unbelieveable 30 shades! They also come in both satin and matte finishes. I really like all of the Buxom products I've tried so far, so I'm looking forward to these. Also, the packaging looks very Kat Von D, doesn't it?? Right now, they're only available at Sephora if you're a VIB or VIB Rouge, but give it a little while and I'm sure they'll be available in stores shortly.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution ($22) is a matte lipstick that (finally) doesn't dry out your lips! Urban Decay claims that it feels as rich and buttery as the original Revolution formula and it comes in never-before-seen shades. I haven't been on board with the matte lipstick trend so far because I have perpetually dry lips, but I'm really excited to try these in the hopes that it'll be the first one that's truly comfortable to wear!
Pur Minerals Lip Lure ($24) is a rich, saturated lacquer that gives full coverage, high shine color in one swipe. They also have a unique flocked "showerhead" applicator that delivers the perfect amount of color every time.
So there you have it...four new lip products for Fall. Have you tried any of these yet, or are you planning on picking any of these up? I'd love to hear about it!

New Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask Smashed

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is my holy grail lip product. I've been wearing it to bed every night since I bought it last January (see my review here). Then over the summer, they made it even better by releasing a Champagne pink, rose-gold tinted version (see my review here) which I wear it all the time when I want just a hint of color. As a stay-at-home Mom, I don't really wear lip products with much color to them on a daily basis so the Champagne is my go-to when I'm just out running errands or around the house. Still, I always thought it would be nice if they'd make a darker tinted version for those days when I do want a little more color.
Well, I was just browsing the Sephora website last night and freaked out when I saw Smashed, the newest Agave Lip Mask shade!
"The leave-on Bite Beauty Smashed Agave Lip Mask imparts a universal red-wine tint while healing and softening lips with its blend of lanolin, vanilla extract, natural olive fruit, and jojoba oil. Its infusion of the powerful antioxidant resveratrol improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, banishes dryness, and lets you achieve irresistible lips".
I love that all the lip masks are petroleum free and made with all food grade ingredients. It's pricey, but definitely a splurge that's worth it for me. You only need a tiny bit and it lasts forever. The original clear version I bought last January is only a little over half gone!
I ordered one last night as soon as I saw it so I'll be posting a review soon!

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask Champagne Review and Swatches

If you thought Bite Beauty's Agave Lip Mask couldn't get any better, you're not going to believe what just popped up at Sephora...a rose gold Champagne version! Since their original Agave Lip Mask is a holy grail lip product for me (see my review here) and a staple in my makeup bag I was, without a doubt, all.over.this.
So off I went to Sephora this morning, chatted with some former coworkers, paid for my Champagne Agave Lip mask, told the cashier I didn't need a bag (I'll just throw it in my purse), and promptly left it on the counter! I was pushing Henry in his stroller to my next destination- Forever 21- and realized that I had forgotten it. I went all the way back to the other side of the mall and luckily, it was right where I left it. I would have been beyond bummed if I had gotten all the way home before I figured out what happened.
The ingredients are almost the same, but the Champagne version besides having color, also has the addition of Shea Butter and Monk fruit which make this version the tiniest bit thinner and easier to squeeze out of the tube. It's still way thicker than your average lip gloss and very close to the original texture. It has the same delicious sweet vanilla flavor as the original too.
The tube has been redesigned (yes!!) to a soft plastic tube in leiu of the metal tube that was cool-looking but almost impossible to squeeze and which ended up breaking on a lot of people by splitting at the sides and oozing product out the middle of the tube.
It has the same round hole opening rather than an applicator, so you just squeeze it out onto your finger and apply it that way.
Here's the color swatched on my skin. Its a stunning rose-gold pink. It reminds me a bit of Nars Orgasm and is one of those shades that will look beautiful on everyone.
Here are my before and afters. On my paler (and super dry-yikes!) lips, it shows up nicely and is similar in color to the swatch above on my arm. I've seen a few other reviews on Sephora's website that say on pigmented lips it doesn't add any pink, but just shows up as more of a golden sheen.
Overall, I'm obsessed with this Champagne lip mask! Finally, I can now wear a colored version of my holy grail product during the day and save the original clear version for bedtime. I like that it's a tiny bit thinner for daytime wear too (though every bit as moisturizing and long lasting). I know that $26 is a bit steep for a lip product, but you only need the tiniest little bit so it'll last forever. Plus I have yet to find any lip product that rivals this in terms of moisture and how it makes your lips feel. For me, it's a luxury I don't mind splurging on one bit!

Bite Beauty BB For Lips Review and Swatches

Bit Beauty BB For Lips is a new product that just came out for Spring 2014. I'm pretty much obsessed with Bite Beauty's Agave Lip Mask (read my review here), so when I found out they had just released the BB for lips $24, I had to splurge on it and see what it was all about.
The packaging is sleek and black. The box is very similar to the Agave Lip Mask but the product itself comes in a matte black twist up tube. I love that its not bulky and slips nicely into a small bag or clutch.
As I said above, the color looks way darker in the tube. This goes on sheer and feels ultra moisturizing and emollient. It melts into the lips, but still has a firmness to it, so its not as soft as Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment for example. But in the summertime that's a good thing! It tastes like vanilla with a slight hint of citrus.
Here is Flush swatched on my arm- its a sheer, pretty pink and tints my lips just enough. I don't even really need a mirror to apply this which I love!
Here's my before and after:

I purchased the shade Flush, which is light pink, but there are 5 shades in all, one of which is clear. I swatched the other 4 shades so you can see what they look like. I have to say, they go on way more sheer than what they look like in the tube!
Left to right: Flush (light pink), Tawny (dusty pink), Dolce (deep purple) and Suede (light pink brown).
I chose Flush because I have pale pink lips naturally and just wanted something to enhance and give that My-Lips-But-Better color.

I'm just in love with this subtle color for summer! But since the other shades are sheer, I'm betting I would like them all. The only downside to this balm is that it doesn't have lasting power...an hour or two tops, but that's expected with balms and its easy enough to reapply.
Overall, let's look at the claims:
Repairs- YES, moisturizes and minimizes lines
Primes- SORT OF, it depends what you mean by prime- this as a base helped lipstick go on smoothly but didn't seem to extend wear time.
Protects- YES, with SPF 15!
Mimics the lips natural surface to revitalize, repair and restore texture for the ultimate softness- YES, this feels so smooth going on, melts into the lips and looks so natural. After using it for a week now, my lips look healthier and less dry.
Have you tried Bite Beauty's BB for Lips yet or do you want to? Which shade looks good to you?
