When I was diagnosed with skin cancer in my early 30's my dermatologist made me promise to always wear sunscreen, even if I was just out running errands and even if it was cloudy.
And if I'm being totally honest, I struggled to take her advice...I just hate the thick texture of sunscreen on my face. It doesn't always play well with makeup, so I just told myself that my foundation has some sunscreen in it, so that's good enough! Truth is, it wasn't doing its job, because I was still getting sun spots and freckles...which meant that the UV rays were still getting through.
Then a few years ago, I discovered IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream, which has SPF 50+ in it and it was the foundation I had been looking for. Most foundations only have SPF 15-25, so having something with SPF 50+ to protect me for a longer period of time was great, especially since it's a physical sunscreen, not a chemical one.
The thing is, I don't necessarily want to wear a full coverage foundation every day. My skin has improved a lot the past year or so and many days, I just want to wear a BB Cream or light foundation. That's where Anti-Aging Armour comes in...
This is a super lightweight beauty fluid that feels a lot like those serum foundations (the ones that have droppers). I use a few drops to cover my face and neck and it disappears into my skin quickly with no greasy or heavy feeling. It contains SPF 50+ broad spectrum sunscreen and also contains anti-aging ingredients like peptides, niacin, hydrolyzed collagen, and hyaluronic acid so it adds a little bit of hydration and helps your skin to look smooth and even. It seems to add a little bit of radiance to my skin as well...not shimmer or glitter but just a subtle glow.
I should also mention that it's completely unscented...no "sunscreen" smell which is nice.
I was expecting this to be very sheer, like a tinted moisturizer but was pleasantly surprised to see that it gives me almost medium coverage with no weight at all! I can leave the house wearing this and a little concealer and it feels like I have nothing on my skin...it's amazing! If I want more coverage, I can easily layer another foundation on top of this because it's so weightless. It takes any medium coverage foundation and boosts the coverage even more for a flawless look.
The problem is, this kind of coverage means that it won't work on all skin tones...I've seen reviews from people with medium to deeper skin tones that say this was way too light for them, and people with porcelain skin saying that it's too dark. I can definitely see this being the case because it's really not sheer enough to work for "everyone".
I ended up being one of the lucky ones...it's the perfect color for me (I would consider myself a fair-to-light skin tone). It's a very neutral color...not to yellow or too pink. It looks a little dark swatched on my arm, but my face is actually a shade or two darker than the inside of my arm, so it ends up being just right.
When I compare it to the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream in the shades I currently have (Fair and Light) it seems to be right in between the two.

I'm an IT girl so I bought this as soon as it came out, along with a couple of their other new products. I was really looking forward to trying this because I also hate to wear sunscreen. I loved how light and silky it feels and it really does seem to just disappear into your skin. But I had to return it because it made my medium olive skin look really pale and pasty. IT Cosmetics- PLEASE make this in more colors! I love everything about this and Jen you are very lucky that you can wear it.
ReplyDeleteAw, I really hope they do. It's such a great product and I feel bad that people are missing out on it because it's not a shade match for them!
DeleteHow does this compare to the color of the IT Cosmetics CC cream? A comparison swatch would be super appreciated! I am hoping it is similar but less yellow than the CC cream in fair.
ReplyDeleteRegular reader, first time commenter! I love your blog :)
Thank you so much, I'm so glad to hear that! :) I just added some swatches of both the Fair and Light CC+ Cream. It's definitely less yellow than Fair...it actually seems more neutral because it's not pink either. It's a little bit darker than the fair shade but not as dark as Light. I hope that helps! :)
DeleteIt helps a ton! Thanks so much. I have high hopes & will be purchasing!
DeleteThis is why you are my favorite blogger! Not many bloggers would go back and post another swatch photo to help a reader out. It seems like most can't be bothered to answer questions let alone take and post new photos so I just wanted to take the time to show my appreciation for all you do. You are really in this to help us and not just for yourself and that means a lot and is one of many reasons I read your blog. Thank you!
DeleteYou can order the Biore Japanese Sunscreens on Amazon 2 for 16 dollars, and they are spf 50 or more, and just as light, without being pasty! I also order the Japanese Nivea spf50 for 12 dollars in a huge bottle for 12 dollars. I order every 2 months because it takes 2 months to deliver.
ReplyDeleteI was literally going to write the exact same thing. :) I would never pay $38 for this knowing the Biore is out there for so much less.
DeleteMay I ask what your Mac foundation number (ie. NC20, NW15) is? Trying to figure out if this would be too dark for me. Cheers! :)
