I don't know what got into me the other night, but as I stood there in front of the Circa display again, I just decided, "I'm finally going to try this line, dammit" and picked up three products that all ended up being in the peachy-pink family (I realized this after I got home).
If you're not familiar with Circa Beauty, it's Eva Mendes' makeup line (she's the creative director) and is all about providing luxury-quality makeup at affordable prices that works with a wide range of skin tones. Everything also comes in beautiful packaging that looks very old-Hollywood and chic.
I've been using these products the last two days now and while it hasn't been enough time to give a thorough review, I wanted to give you my first impressions due to a high number of requests after I posted my haul on Instagram last night. So many of you told me that you had always wanted to try this brand but were afraid to take the plunge (sounds familiar!). So without further ado, let's get started...
Picture Perfect Blush in Flamenco Beach |
Picture Perfect Powder Blush in Flamenco Beach ($12)- This blush claims to be silky smooth and color-rich and it certainly delivers! I was really impressed with the super soft, highly pigmented formula as soon as I touched it. It blends so beautifully on the skin and this peachy-pink shade is to-die-for. You only need the tiniest bit on your brush (I ended up having to tap my brush to avoid applying too much) and the highly pigmented formula really shows up nicely without having to build it up.
The compact was a little hard to open at first, but I finally figured out that you have to stick your nail under the part that snaps shut and sort of pry it open. That's the only negative thing about this blush, otherwise, it's perfection! I really need to get more shades, ASAP.
Ultrasuede Cream Blush in La Spezia |
Yesterday, I wore this layered under the Flamenco Beach powder blush and it lasted until bedtime but I applied them late in the afternoon so I'll have to test them together again on a day when I can apply them in the morning.
Lustrous Shine Lip Polish in Satin Blush |
This color, Satin Blush goes on a little lighter than it looks in the tube, but you can add another layer and build the color. I'm interested to see if the darker shades are even more pigmented. There was a beautiful mauve shade, Cashmere Kiss that I have my eye on next! I absolutely love the way this gloss makes my lips look and feel, but the downside is, it's not long-lasting. I guess that's true of most glosses though and I don't mind reapplying.
Here are the swatches of all three products and you can see how pigmented they are. They're also almost all the same color, haha! I must have been in a peachy-pink mood that day.
Here, I'm wearing the cream blush in La Spezia layered under the powder blush in Flamenco Beach. I'm also wearing the Satin Blush lip polish...it makes my lips look so smooth!
Have you tried Circa Beauty? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
If your local Walgreens doesn't carry it, you can also find the entire line at Drugstore.com
You could have just described me to a T! I look at this line almost every time I go to Walgreens but they never have testers for anything except the foundations, concealers and primers. Sounds like they should have testers of these other products and a lot more people might bite the bullet. Like you said, I always look at the prices and then think "I can buy two WnW products for the price of one of these". But knowing that they're great quality I would gladly pay the extra for them.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel too. It could have gone either way...I could have hated what I got but thankfully I loved everything. Also, it wasn't too much of a risk since Walgreens has a great return policy! :)
DeleteOh man I was really hoping this line was a dud Lolol! Great shade selections.. They are super flattering on you!
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Steffanie! :) I'll definitely go back and try more items...who knows, there could be some duds in there too. I'm just glad I finally tried this line, because the things I got are great! :)
DeleteI agree with Steffanie, you look gorgeous in these shades! I always admire your natural looking makeup. Too many bloggers have a heavy hand, but your makeup always looks the way I would want mine to look every day.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Charlotte! That makes my day. :)
DeleteSame here, I always look at this line but never pull the trigger. I'm so glad you reviewed these because there aren't a lot of bloggers talking about this line and I've always been curious. Love your blog and your unique content!
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised that there aren't more people talking about it because so far I'm really impressed! Maybe it's the price point...everyone here seems to be saying the same thing- that they were curious but not enough to spend the money.
DeleteI've been the same way as you regarding Circa. I could never quite take the plunge. I haven't seen many reviews on their stuff, so I've skipped it. I LOVE the coral shades you got, so maybe it's time I took the leap and tried a few things.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel! It's so funny how many times I've looked but didn't buy, and it sounds like a lot of people felt the same as we do. I don't know what possessed me to just take the plunge the other day but I'm really glad I did. I'm wondering if this line ever goes on sale? I never noticed before but if it does, that would be great!
DeleteI have to join the ladies about and I am thrilled to find some swatches and review. I will totally rethink this next time at Walgreen's! Your peachy pink look is just what I want for myself! Thanks Jenn!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin, thank you so much! :) I think you'll really like it! I can definitely recommend the products I purchased but I'm not sure about the rest yet. Now I need to go back and try some more products!
DeleteI saw your review on Sunday morning and went out later to buy the lip polish and one of the blushes, I hadn't decided which one yet. I ended up getting two of the lip polishes so the blush will have to wait since I had given myself a $20-$25 budget for the day. Well I'm so glad I tried these glosses! Their so plush and feel cushiony when you press your lips together. I got Cashmere Kiss which is such a pretty mauve color and also Electric organza, a bright pink. I couldn't pick between the two colors! I'm so happy with my purchase, thank you for your first impressions as there aren't many reviews out there. There should be!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked them Georgina! That's exactly how I felt about the lip polish...it has such a luxurious, cushiony feel like some of the higher-end glosses. Some drugstore formulas can feel thin and runny or thick and sticky. This one is on the thicker side, but feels sooo smooth. I was looking at Cashmere Kiss too, I think I need to go back and get it!
DeleteI like the colors! You look really pretty!

Thank you so much Serein! :)
DeleteYep, that's me! I've stood in front of the Circa display so many times, with no idea where to start, then shied away since it's more expensive than the average DS product. But as soon as I catch a sale, I MUST try that cream blush to see if it will last on my cheeks. And the coral colors are so perfect for summer! Looking forward to more swatches/reviews (Katherine T.)
ReplyDeleteHey Katherine! Yes, I can totally see myself wearing these colors all summer. I need to go back and get some cooler pinks next! :)
