The Flower Beauty section recently got an overhaul at my local Walmart and there are a bunch of new products with really pretty rose gold packaging (see my post here for all the newness), while a lot of the old products are now in the clearance section. Replacing the old Lip Service Lip Butter is the new Hydrasilk Ultimate Lip Butter ($7.98), which promises to give lasting hydration & conditioning with a glossy finish. Let's take a look!
Ultimate Lip Butter comes in six shades (see them in my post here) like nude, peach, coral, red, and this pretty rosy shade I decided to try called Rose Petal. Just like the new Ultimate Eye Color, which I reviewed a few weeks ago (see that review here), their packaging has definitely been stepped up a notch. These lip butters come in a sleek-looking slim black tube and the clear cap has a rose gold nameplate with the Flower logo embossed on it. It looks really high-end for a drugstore product!
The lip butter itself is a flat, slanted shape rather than the traditional lipstick bullet, similar to other lip butters that are on the market, such as the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters and L'oreal Colour Riche tinted balms. The difference with the Flower version is that the slimmer shape gives you a lot more control over where the product is going, and I really like that about it. In that way, it reminds me of the Colourpop Lippie Stix. I also like that they have no discernable scent, so that's good news for those of you who are sensitive to fragrance.
The formula is rich and moisturizing with no sticky feel. It glides on like silk and instantly smooths your lips. Mine are really dry right now and this seemed to smooth out those vertical lines and deposited beautiful, even color that didn't cling to dry patches. It also gave the perfect amount of shine...more than a lipstick but not as intense as a gloss. There doesn't seem to be any shimmer in this shade and I'm loving how it just gives a soft wash of color and a bit of shine that looks simple, natural and pretty. Wear time isn't very long, which is typical of a tinted lip balm so I don't hold that against it.
On me, the Rose Petal shade is the perfect MLBB shade. It warms up my naturally pale lips and actually gives quite a bit of color without looking heavy (you can build up the color easily too!).
Overall, this is another winner from Flower Beauty...I love both the packaging and formula updates! The Ultimate Lip Butters are a real treat for your lips and add the prettiest color and shine. I'm definitely going back and getting some more shades.
What about you? Have you tried these yet?

What a lovely everyday shade! I absolutely love this! It's so hard to wear lipstick in the winter. But these hydrating tinted creamy lip balms are definitely helping! Lovely!

Thanks Ellen! I almost never wear lipstick in the winter for that reason...just balms and sometimes gloss. It's nice to have a balm with some color!
DeleteI wonder how these compare to the Sonia Kashuk shine luxe lip color... more moisturing? more/less pigmented? those are $11, so this would save a few $$
ReplyDeletei've tried both, and the Flower lip butter is more moisturizing, IMO.
DeleteThanks for jumping in Linda! I haven't tried the Sonia Kashuk one so that's helpful! XO
DeletePS: Also, the SK colors are so slippery (which is good in camouflaging dry lips) that they smear on me, so I had to return the darker colors.
ReplyDeleteThis one doesn't smear...it feels a little waxy because its balm so it stays put on your lips. Its still very soft and silky though. :)
DeleteHow beautiful! Love your blog! Check it daily. What foundation are you wearing in the picture? You look flawless. 😊
ReplyDeleteAww thanks so much Nicole! I'm wearing Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation. :)
DeleteI wonder if these are available in Macedonia?
ReplyDeleteI believe they're only in the USA right now since they're exclusive to Walmart.
DeleteThe packaging is definitely a step up but I'm wondering how the formula compares to Flower's former Lip Service Lip Balms? Not shade/ color-wise, but just how they feel, wear, etc. Thanks so much for any info!!
