City Color Sunlight Trio Review & Swatches

City Color Sunlight Trio ($8.99) is a bronze, blush & highlight palette that comes in two different shade combinations...one light and one deep to suit a range of skintones. I found these at my local Five Below and they were only $3 or $4 each, so if you live near a Five Below, I highly recommend buying them there. I purchased both shade options, and when I got to the register, the cashier dropped the lighter one on the floor and the corner of the highlight broke a little bit. Since I had grabbed the last one, I was stuck with it (she did take $1 off the price though).

Collection #1 is more suited toward darker skin tones...it has a golden highlight that's absolutely stunning, a shimmery peachy pink blush that reminds me a bit of Nars Orgasm (read: flattering on everyone), and a shimmery bronzer that is way too dark for my fair skin and even if it wasn't, it has too much shimmer. That being said, I think it would make a really pretty eyeshadow!

Collection #1 is so pigmented, it's insane. They apply beautifully and you only have to dip your brush into the pan ever so gently and it picks up a ton of color. These swatches are one swipe with no primer underneath...they're on bare skin!

Collection #2 is for lighter skin tones, such as myself, and contains a champagne/gold highlight, matte pink blush, and a shimmery bronzer that's lighter than the one in Collection #1, but it's still too much shimmer to use all over my face.

I definitely noticed a difference between these two palettes...this one didn't feel as buttery or swatch as beautifully. The highlight was patchy and the blush felt more powdery. The bronzer was the most pigmented shade in this palette, but it didn't seem to be quite as rich as the darker one.

All in all, these kits are beautiful and the price is definitely right! But I do prefer Collection #1 over Collection #2, even though it's not geared toward lighter skin. The blush still works beautifully on me though, and the highlighter is just gorgeous. I wouldn't use the bronzer in either palette as a bronzer but they certainly work as eyeshadows!
