Julep Maven November 2014 Modern Beauty Box

My Julep Maven box came this week and I was really excited because even though I had chosen the Modern Beauty Box this month (2 Full-Size Makeup Items), I also added on a few nail polishes from other boxes that I really liked using my Jules (points).  That's one of the things I love about Julep...you take the quiz to figure out what box you should get, but you don't have to stick with that box! The first time I took the quiz, I was paired with the Boho Glam box, which contains two nail polishes and one full-sized beauty product.  But then I tried the Modern Beauty box the following month and loved that even more.  I just add on nail polishes with points from time to time (you get points with every purchase and your monthly boxes count!).

This month's Modern Beauty Box came with a mascara (either Length Matters Lengthening Mascara or Go Big Volumizing), and a Gel Eye Glider in one of the new fall shades.

I got the Length Matters Mascara and not one, but 2 Gel Eye Gliders!  I wasn't charged extra, so maybe it was an error?  Not complaining!

Length Matters mascara $26, is a lengthening mascara that claims to stretch the limits of your lashes for length, lift and definition.   

The tube is really luxe-feeling.  It's black and heavy with a slightly raised diamond pattern along the length of it.  The brush is super slim, which makes it easy to get right into the base of your lashes and grab every one.  

I thought it was strange that the instructions said not to wiggle the brush...that's the one thing the experts always tell you to do when applying mascara, and it's how I always get bigger, thicker lashes. So I tried wiggling it anyway thinking I knew better, and wasn't getting super good results so then I tried it their way...and woah! Instantly longer lashes. I can't remember the last time I used a mascara that gave me results like this by just combing the brush through, no wiggling.

I was so impressed by this formula and brush. I love how long it made my lashes...they practically reached back up and touched my eyelids!

Next, I received two Gel Eye Gliders, $16.  I've gotten these eyeliners before in different boxes...last time I got a plum shade that I've been using a lot this fall.  They're super buttery, glide on so easily and stay put without budging! They sent me Bronze Shimmer and Graphite Shimmer.

I love these colors...they're really versatile and I'm glad they sent these instead of just basic black since I have a lot of those.

I used my Jules (points) to add on some nail polishes because I loved these shades so much for fall, plus I'm a fan of their vegan 5-free formula.  I ordered Devon (from the Classic with a Twist box) and Marzia from the It Girl box.

Devon, $14 is a slate gray with fuchsia microshimmer.

Marzia, $14 is a pewter chrome.

Overall, I'm really loving this month's Julep Maven box!  It had a value of $54 (not counting the nail polish add-ons) and cost $19.99.
