Eos Visibly Soft Lip Balm ($2.99 @ Bed, Bath and Beyond) is a new version of their best-selling lip spheres. It comes in two new flavors as well as a slightly different formula...take a look!
I found this over in the section where all the beauty sample sizes are- they weren't in the regular beauty section, just FYI. This new formula has almost an identical ingredient list as the original except for the addition of Hyaluronic Acid and water. These additions seem to give it a bit more slip than the original, which I found to be very hard and waxy. This one goes on smooth and instantly makes my lips look and feel smooth without a greasy texture.
The scents are...kind of meh and although they're listed as "natural flavor" in the ingredient list, they smell kind of artificial to me. I'm a serious coconut fanatic, and the Coconut Milk scent was a little disappointing. It's on the mild side as far as scents go and has a pineapple note to it, so it's more Pina Colada than Coconut Milk. The Vanilla Mint smells like peppermint Tic Tacs (the white ones)- mostly minty with a hint of vanilla (like the sweet coating on the candy). It also unfortunately reminds me a of Kaopectate (gross!)...this alone makes me not want to wear it and makes my stomach turn.
The spheres themselves are different than the original in that they have swirls that are actually raised a bit, which makes them a little easier to grip. But just as with all Eos lip balms, these somewhat large, round things aren't very easy to carry in a small purse or clutch..they're just too big and bulky. Also, I've never actually finished one, but I'm wondering how the heck you get it on your lips once you've worn it down to the rim of the packaging.
Overall, I wasn't crazy about these. Even though they made my lips feel smooth initially, I found that an hour later, my lips felt dry again and the lines were coming back. This surprised me, because these balms do contain a lot of moisturizing ingredients, like Shea Butter, Olive Fruit Oil, Coconut Oil and Jojoba Oil. Also, I wasn't crazy about either scent, although I like the Coconut Milk one the best.
What do you think of these new Eos balms...yay or nay?
