Let's take a look!
Packaging:
The Tarteist Eye & Cheek Palette comes in a hot pink compact with a gold splatter paint design. It kind of looks like a New Kids on the Block hat I used to have in the early 90's that was bright pink with a neon yellow splatter paint design over it, so for me it feels kind of nostalgic and I love that about it. It's made of plastic and feels very solid and sturdy with a latch closure.
Shade Selection:
The shades in this palette are all wearable neutrals, so they're great for everyday or if you work in an office where you have to wear more conservative makeup. There are three matte and three shimmer eyeshadows and the blush called Boundless has a matte finish.
When I posted a photo of this palette on Instagram, I got a lot of comments saying that it looks just like the Styled By Hrush palette that Tarte released over the summer. It's true that the layout of the palette is the same but the shades are completely different between the two (see my comparison toward the end of this post).
One of the reasons I love this palette is that you have all the shades you need to create a complete eye look. Sometimes you can't even find that in larger palettes, so I'm happy to have it in a smaller version. Muse is a really pretty matte highlight shade while Sketch is perfect as a matte transition color. You also get three shimmery lid colors and Impression, a deeper shade that can be used in the outer crease or double as an eyeliner.
Swatches:
The formula of these shadows is on par with Tarte's regular Amazonian Clay offerings such as the Tartelette in Bloom or the Showstopper. They have really nice pigmentation and a denser texture so they don't create a ton of fallout.
Here's a shade comparison between the Styled By Hrush Palette (top row) and the Tarteist Eye & Cheek Palette (bottom row). As you can see, the palettes are laid out the same, in very similar packaging but the Styled by Hrush palette is quite a bit warmer with a peachier blush, while the Tarteist Eye & Cheek Palette leans more neutral with a cooler-toned pink blush.
Final Thoughts: Overall, I'm really happy I picked up this palette! It's great quality, and I love that I can complete a full eye look with this...not to mention it has a beautiful blush included. If you love wearable neutrals like I do and are looking for a great travel palette, this is definitely worth picking up!
If you're interested in trying some more Tarte products along with this palette, such as the new Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara, eyeliner, and Glossy Lip Paint, I highly recommend checking out the QVC set...it's $19 more but you get the Eye & Cheek palette plus four other full-sized products making it well worth the price. It would also make a great gift!

I passed up the Hrush palette because I wasn't crazy about a few of the colors, particularly the blush. But I did like how travel friendly it was and I love Tarte products in general. I really like the look of this one and will probably get the QVC set since it sounds like a better deal! Thank you for the review.
ReplyDeleteThanks for great review! LOVE your gorg swatches & esp. comparison with SbH palette!! How can you always find the best products I'm most interested in ;)? ..Another nude/neutral shade lover here perhaps ;) This really look like perfect travel palette :) Do you think the quality of the shadows is same in both even if this one is made in China (or is it? I don't have it, I just read QVC review..) and SbH in USA?
