Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Palette Review

tarteist pro glow to go palette
I picked up the new Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Palette ($23 exclusively at Sephora) on Black Friday and I'm so glad I did! When Tarte launched the larger Tarteist Pro Glow palette a few weeks ago I was disappointed because quite a few of the shades looked too dark for my fair complexion. I swatched them in-store at Ulta and the formula felt so awesome...I just couldn't justify spending $45 on a palette that I could only use half of.
Fast forward to Black Friday and I didn't hesitate to snap this one up...all of the shades seemed like they would work for me.

Let's take a closer look...

The Details:
The Tarteist Pro To Go Highlight & Contour Palette delivers the perfect glow with three pigments designed to enhance all skin tones. Each carefully selected, universally flattering hue has a rich undertone that mimics real shadow and light reflection on the face for natural-looking, chiseled definition. The matte contour powder sculpts a gorgeous look, while two intense highlighting powders deliver buildable shimmer for a strobing effect. Each fade-free shade can be layered or worn alone for a radiant, long-wear finish.

Made in U.S.A.

Packaging:

This little palette is slightly smaller than my smartphone and fits in the palm of my hand. Thankfully, the pan sizes are still big enough to fit a brush into them (they're .08 oz each). The outer case has that rubberized finish that tends to attract dirt and makeup like a magnet, but feels really nice and soft to the touch. Inside, they included a mirror, two highlighting powders and a contour powder.

Also, these shades are similar to some in the larger palette but they aren't exact dupes...there are some slight differences.

Formula:
Looking at the shades, you can see that the highlighters don't have a glittery look...you can tell they're shimmer shades but they're very finely milled so they go on smooth. The matte contour powder looks so smooth in the pan, I thought it was a cream at first, haha!

The two highlighting shades Gleam and Burst are super soft and buttery and go on so smoothly, allowing you to highlight your cheekbones easily and without using a lot of product. There is some powdery fallout with these because they're so soft, so you might need to tap your brush once before applying.

The contour shade, Chisel is a medium neutral brown...it's not that very cool (almost grayish) brown that you see in some contour palettes, but I wouldn't say that it's warm or orangy either. It feels more dense than the highlight shades and it also doesn't have as much powder kick-up.

Swatches:
I was really impressed with the highlighters in particular. They offer a beautiful shiny gleam with no chunky glitter or shimmer...they look so smooth! I like to apply them to my cheeks with a fan brush and they look stunning! The contour shade feels creamy to the touch, and while it went on a little bit patchy when swatching with my fingers, I had no problems applying it to my skin with a dense bristled brush. It blended beautifully just like the highlighters.

Final Thoughts:
If you passed on the larger size because you didn't think all the shades would work for you (or if you just didn't want to shell out the $49 right now), you may want to give this one a shot! It's such a cute, travel-friendly option and even though you're only getting a quarter of the product for half the price of the larger size, it's worth it to me because I'll use all of these shades and it won't feel like a waste.
I love it and am so glad I decided to pick it up!

  1. This looks like it would work for me, too, and I'm pretty fair. I'm still trying to decide what to get with my Sephora discount, and this is tempting...

    1. I've been stalking the blush palette for the same reason! It actually says Coming Soon, so I'm crossing my fingers they release it during the discount time. It released on the Hourglass site on 12/01 and has now sold out.
