That's why I was psyched when one of my favorite makeup brands, IT Cosmetics, launched their skincare line at Sephora. The first thing I had my eye on (no pun intended, haha) was the new Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream ($48). If my experience with IT Cosmetics' makeup line has taught me anything, it's that their products actually work, so the thought of them putting their expertise into skincare was really exciting to me.
Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream comes in a beautiful blue jar with a silver lid that looks really pretty sitting on my bathroom sink. My one complaint about the packaging is that I wish it came in a pump or a tube, as I'm not a fan of products in jars. I'm a bit of a germaphobe and I don't like dipping my fingers into products (and grabbing a spatula or Q-tip each time just adds an additional step). Also, certain ingredients can break down when exposed to light over time, so by the time you get to the bottom of the jar, the formula may not be a effective as when you first got it.
Claims:
An intensive, antiaging eye cream designed to instantly brighten and reduce the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Ingredients:
- Pepetides: Minimize the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles and boost under eye collagen production for a smoother, firmer appearance.
- Blue Algae: Hydrates and stimulates cell-renewal, visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and smooths and soothes under eye skin with proteins, minerals, and vitamins.
- Cucumber: Decreases under eye puffiness with the soothing, anti-inflammatory properties of this non-irritating plant extract.
- Caffeine: Reduces the look of facial redness, puffiness, and dark undereye circles with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
- Copper: Helps develop collagen and elastin and promotes skin-plumping hyaluronic acid.
The formula also contains shea butter, macadamia seed oil, and jojoba oil to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin.
Experience:
It is completely unscented and didn't irritate my eyes at all, even when I used it close to my lash line or on my eyelids. It feels wonderful on the skin, very soothing and hydrating and it sinks in completely after a couple of minutes. I love the way makeup applies on top of it...some eye creams leave your skin feeling a little sticky and it makes your concealer go on patchy. In this case, I feel like my concealer goes on better than ever, which means I can use this both day and night.
Also, it has a slight blue tint, which is supposed to brighten up dark shadows under your eyes. Keep in mind, this isn't color correcting (in that case, you would use a peach-tinted product to correct dark circles). This is simply meant to brighten the skin a bit and it goes on clear so you won't see any bluish color under your eyes. To be honest, I didn't notice much of a brightening effect, but I also don't really have darkness under my eyes so that aspect of this eye cream doesn't really apply to me at the moment.
My Results- Before & After:
When it comes to skincare, I feel like we sometimes have unrealistic expectations (myself included!). We want a miracle fix that gives results after one or two uses and when it doesn't deliver, we feel like we aren't seeing the results we were looking for. So then we end up giving up on a product before it has a chance to work.
That's why I decided to take before & after photos, because change is often gradual and isn't something you'll always notice in the mirror on a day-to-day basis. When you can see what your skin looked like a month ago vs. what it looks like now, you can really tell if anything has changed.
**Disclaimer: My photos are completely raw and un-retouched.**
Before:
I took the first photo last month when I first started using Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream on September 12, 2016. In that photo you'll see that I have some fine lines underneath my eye...there's a deeper one that goes from the inner corner down underneath the center of my eye, then there are some lines that aren't as noticeable (feel free to zoom in) that run from the outer corner back to the center and cross over the other ones.
After:
In the after photo, taken on October 14th, 2016, you can see that the deeper line that runs from the inner corner isn't as deep as it was in the first photo...it's a lot softer. The lines that run from the outer corner back toward the center aren't even noticeable at all! I also notice that my under eye area feels firmer and tighter on a day-to-day basis...I'm not sure if that's an instant effect from the caffeine or if the peptides and copper have begun to increase collagen and elastin in that area.
Overall, I am so impressed by IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream! It hits just about every point on my checklist that I would look for in an eye cream (except for the packaging). It's non-irritating, un-scented, deeply moisturizing, makeup applies beautifully over it, and it has really firmed up my under eye area and reduced the appearance of my fine lines. I can't wait to continue using it every day and see my results in another month (on my 39th birthday!).

Thank you so much for posting your before/after pics! It's one thing to SAY that something works but it is nice to see hard evidence from an unbiased source. I don't trust before and afters that come straight from brands. Also, I want to add that your under eye area in your before looks much younger than 39- damn girl! I want to know what eye creams you've been using your whole life lol. I'm 35 and my friends are all getting botox because #majorcrowsfeet. I'm determined not to go to those lengths just yet so I think I will give this a shot.
ReplyDeleteAw thank you so much Kirsten, that's so sweet of you to say! :) I'm also trying to use only skincare and see what happens. It's hard for me to remember which eye creams I've used that far back, lol! The most recent ones weren't really anti-aging formulas, but were mainly just for moisture, such as the Kiehls Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment. I've been using the Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM under my eyes for years as an anti-aging treatment and I know that has absolutely made a difference as well...looking back, I feel like I had deeper lines at 32 when I first started using it than I do now. Between that and this IT Cosmetics cream, I feel like I have an amazing combo!
DeleteOkay I need this in my life. You totally sold me, I'm ordering it tonight!
ReplyDeleteThose are very nice results! If it came in a tube, I'd be very tempted to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love It Cosmetics makeup and it looks like they scored with their skincare line too! I will definitely be buying this, thanks to your review.
ReplyDeleteIt this age and with everything so hectic and stressful these days, a good eye cream can really help soothe not only the eye but also our rest after a tough days work. Eye cream is something I cant live without. Gonna try get this. Awesome post. Sharon Elsie | diva-in-me.com
