Last week, I posted some photos of some new Revlon products from Bed, Bath and Beyond (see post here with full range of shades), and I've been using these lipsticks the past few days and wanted to give you guys my first impressions. I purchased them for $7.39 each.
Unfortunately, I don't have any details on what these are supposed to do, what makes them "Ultra HD" or any sort of description whatsoever- they're that new. They're not even online yet, so I figured I'd just wing it and tell you what my experience was with these.
I purchased two shades, HD Rose 830 and HD Magnolia 865. The formula is creamy and almost a bit gel-like. They remind me a lot of L'Oreal's Color Caresse Lipsticks, with a super lightweight feel that leaves a really thin layer of color on your lips with great pigment. They feel really nice going on and I love the texture. That said, there's a few things I don't like...
See how the bullets are chipped and flat in the back in the photo above? That's because these don't wind down into the tube all the way. When you try to open the tube, they bump into the cap and get lipstick all over it and get dented in the process. It's almost impossible to avoid because they close tightly and you really have to wiggle it to get them open. I tried to do it quickly and pull it out straight but I didn't have much luck with that.
This is what the tube looks like after only a couple of uses.
Another thing I'm not crazy about is the scent. These are heavily scented with a fruity/floral scent that unfortunately brings back memories of the fruity flavored antibiotics I took as a kid when I was sick (not a pleasant scent for me) and it's not subtle, it's actually really strong. So if you don't like scented products, you'll probably want to stay away from these.
Finally, it might just be because my lips are dry but after a half hour of wear, I noticed my lips looked more lined than before I applied this and they felt a little dry. It never caked up or anything, but this lipstick definitely didn't create smooth "HD" lips for me. I hesitate to wear lip balm under lip color because it won't adhere as well, so for me, these weren't really a match.

Overall, I love the lightweight, highly pigmented formula, but really dislike the packaging and scent. I'm not sure that you'll have the same issues with dryness that I had (unless you have dry lips) but that's why I'm more of a gloss/balm kind of girl and I usually avoid lipsticks for that reason.
L'Oreal Color Caresse Lipsticks gave me the same kind of feel, but I liked the packaging way better, the scent wasn't strong and they were a bit more moisturizing for me.
What do you think, will you try these out?
