Maybelline Baby Lips Crystal Mirrored Mauve Review and Swatches

Baby Lips Crystal is a new line for Summer 2014 of Maybelline's popular Baby Lips Lip Balm.  These contain shimmer and come in 6 shades.  I posted photos of the display at Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday (see them here) and I chose Mirrored Mauve as the color I wanted to try (wish I had the budget to try them all, but I just can't).

You can see in the close-up that there are tiny specks of shimmer in this.  They are really subtle and not glittery so no worries if you're afraid of disco-ball lips.

By the swatch below, you can see that the actual color is much more subtle than it looks in the tube.  That's why I chose one of the darker shades because usually the lighter ones don't show up enough. You can kind of catch a little bit of the shimmer in the photo, but it's hard to see here.

Here it is on my lips- I didn't take a before photo, but for reference, my lips are only a tiny bit darker than my skin- very pale, like a blank canvas- so lip colors show up pretty true to life on me without my lip pigment showing through. Those with more pigmented lips may not notice much of a difference with these other than barely-there tint and subtle shimmer.

Overall, this was a fun purchase.  I haven't seen these online yet anywhere and I haven't seen reviews on them either- I think I'm the first one!  But take a look at your local Bed Bath and Beyond- they tend to have new products first.
