Until I saw that it was $200...ouch.
Still, the packaging is beautiful and it contains 40 hand-picked eyeshadows from her best-loved, most popular palettes. I have a few Nordstrom notes saved up from the N-Sale, but they'll barely make a dent in this so sadly, it's just not in the budget. If only I had unlimited funds...
What do you think? Is it worth the splurge?

I wouldn't personally - I purchased a palette of hers a while back and was super disappointed in the quality. not to mention 200$ for a nude palette?? Crazy! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, really? I've never tried her eyeshadows so I have no idea what they're like. Thanks for the input! :)
DeleteA lot of people hate on her eyeshadows but I actually love them! If I didn't have a mile-long list of upcoming things to buy I would be all over this in a heartbeat!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha I know what you mean! There are too many holiday sets I want to buy, plus the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty coming next week. Arrghh! :)
DeleteI love myself some nude palette, but $200 for a nude palette??? Just... NO.
ReplyDeleteMarinaD
My thoughts exactly! I was like, "ooh this is pretty! Umm $200...no".
DeleteWhy not?! It's Nordstrom and if it doesn't work for you, they'll stand by their product. It's limited edition and it's actually more wearable colors to me than UD Naked palette because I like more neutral eye colors. I also like her eyeshadows and don't own too many of her past nude palettes so my order is IN! :D Not to mention they are having GWP...
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good point...Nordstrom has an amazing return policy. I think it would be an awesome set for Bobbi Brown fans or for those who don't have a lot of eyeshadows and are looking to expand their collection. :)
Deleteno way. I already have way too much makeup though I buy 1/30th of what other women buy (based on what I see in blog comments), and $200 is out of the question. I love the BB shadows I own, though, especially Stonewashed Nudes from about 2007, and several singles.
ReplyDeleteI wish cosmetic companies would stop putting out all this stuff, and just do 1 good release a year. It's so wasteful and reminds me of having too much candy. At first it looks like your dream come true, then it's sickening to have so much choice and stuff you won't use, then you have to buy storage for it! We're played for fools when we're expected to get excited about the latest palette from Too Faced or Tarte, who release one or 2 per month! I love nature and am worried about all this junk (plus the packaging and the Sephora bag every makeup buyer seems to want) going into landfills, and the degradation in air and water quality from producing all these cosmetics. Simplicity is really better.
It's exhausting isn't it??? As a beauty blogger I HAVE to keep up with all of this stuff because it's my job but thinking back to when I was a regular consumer, I would be going crazy right now trying to choose what to buy and what to pass on. I used to have a hard time keeping up with new releases and they were nothing compared to what they are now!
DeleteI so agree with Gilbertesswann. Everyone is " More, More, More" these days. I've actually been going thru my stash and selling lots for 15.00 on a local facebook group. I've sold 5 lots already and I can probably sell 5 more. I've sold a few lightly used palettes( all drugstore) and new products along with tons of stuff that I have not touched from Birchbox, Target, Walmart and Sephora boxes. I returned a Naked smokey palette( unused) and the UD gwen palette( terrible quality). What did I do though? I bought the Tartlette in Bloom palette instead. Grrrrrr, its so hard because I'm a sucker for neutral eye shadows. I have 4 MAC palletes( 1 is create your own, amber x 9 and 2 holiday nudes). Yet, I want more nude. How many nudes does one person need? I'm drying for the UD Naked Ultra that is coming out. I might have to seriously STOP myself from getting that. We're de-cluttering in preparation to put our place up for sale and I just need to remind myself that I don't need to pay someone to move makeup.
Deletethis showed up in my youtube feed & think it fits in with the theme of 'who the eff do cosmetic companies think we are with their outrageous prices & constant launches?
Deletedumpster diving at Ulta ... :-) :-) :-)

randi -- so cool! I got a bunch of makeup when I was just starting out & didn't know what shades to try through swapping when MUA did that. I was happy others would part with their products to help me & it saved me tons of money. What you're doing is pretty close, so you're helping someone else & making a little moolah. :-) :-) I get it that lots of makeup people could care less about environmental issues and really like collecting stuff, plus all the paper bags & extra packaging, but it drives me insane. I favor buying from indie companies who have minimal packaging just because of this. I write them and tell them. But I know lots of women just love glitter & packaging & little extra doodads.
DeleteThat video is crazy giberteswann! When I worked at Sephora, one of my jobs was processing returns. We weren't allowed to just throw it out...most of the brands wanted the products back, so we would put a sticker on it (at the time of the return) with the reason why the person was returning it. I guess it helped the brands figure out what went wrong and why certain products are being returned. Some brands didn't want the products back but my manager wouldn't let us just throw them out for this very reason- people might catch on and try to dumpster dive. We had to pour out any liquid products into the garbage and scrape any powder products out of the pans so they couldn't be used or resold.
DeleteIn the money sense it is a lot to spend at one time but it's $5 a shadow and I've spent that and more on a single shadow. However, I wouldn't buy it. Neutral eyeshadows don't excite me that much and I haven't heard anything amazing formula-wise
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of neutral palettes now too so there's no way that I need any more. But $5 a shadow is pretty good when you look at it that way. :)
DeleteNope. Crazy price and boring looking palette. I have several nude palettes (probably more than I could use up in a lifetime). Also Bobbi Brown is not cruelty free.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how many nude palettes are out there and they just keep coming! Haha :)
DeleteIf it was a brand I loved, I wouldn't hesitate. However, BB's eyeshadows have never worked for me. They look lovely in the pan, but have absolutely no pigmentation. -- Christina D.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input Christina! :) I have always wondered about her eyeshadows but I didn't even have a Bobbi counter near me until recently so I never thought to try them.
DeleteI hear that BB was really good until she was bought by Lauder, and that especially palettes now can be disappointing. Who knows ... some people still totally love her gel liners, lipsticks, highlighters.
DeleteThis is gorgeous, if I could afford to spend this kind of money on a palette I would totally buy it but I can't see many people buying it at this price to be honest even if it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGemma Louise
Nah, I just know most of those shades will end up looking the same on the eyes. So many of them look the same in the pan.
ReplyDeleteThis is like a "dream" palette for me... if it wasn't Bobbi Brown... or $200.
ReplyDeleteI saw a picture someone posted...they were showing that each pan was literally the size of a dime :(
