City Color Spotlight Highlight ($4.99 at CityColorCosmetics.com) is a creamy, lightweight formula that gives you a dewy highlight with a pearly finish. Read on for my review and swatches, plus comparison swatches of other cream highlighters I own.
I've been on a big City Color kick lately because it seems like every single thing I've gotten from them has been great! They're already one of my favorite drugstore brands due to their high quality and super-reasonable price points...I just wish they were sold in stores (besides a random find at Five Below). I ended up buying a lot of products during their Labor Day sale, when they had 25% off, and now that their free shipping minimum has been lowered to $25, it makes me feel a little better about ordering online. It used to be hard to get to that $50 mark most of the time because their products are so inexpensive.
One of the products I got in my huge Labor Day haul is the Spotlight Highlight ($4.99). You guys know I'm all about the highlight these days so how could I really resist this cute little pot at under $5?
Spotlight Highlight comes in one universal shade that's a light champagne color with a pearly finish. It's not overly sparkly or shimmery, so it just gives your face more of a sheen wherever you place it.
The packaging is simple and clean...just a clear clamshell compact with a see-through lid.
The compact holds .095 oz. which is pretty small but you don't need a lot of this so it'll last a long time.
The texture is very creamy and lightweight and it goes on very subtle. I've built it up in this swatch so that my camera would pick it up but it takes a few layers to get this intensity (not that you'd put it on your face this heavy anyway). It's very slick so those with oily skin might find that this slides right off. I have dry skin so it wasn't a problem for me but if you're oily, you may want to set this with a highlighting powder on top to help it stay put. Or, you could try their Glowing Complexion Illuminating Cream I reviewed a while back...it's a cream highlighter in a tube that doesn't feel quite as greasy as this one so it may be better suited to oily skin types.
I wanted to swatch Spotlight Highlight next to some other cream highlighters I have so you could see how it compares! These are all in stick form...I realized that I don't actually own any other highlighters in pots except for the Colourpop ones (but the shades I have aren't even close to this one so I didn't include those).
As I was swatching these, I realized that the Flower Beauty Glisten Up Chubby Highlighter is practically a spot-on dupe for the Sonia Kashuk Chic Luminosity Stick in Sparkling Sand.
The City Color Spotlight is a little whiter and less gold than those two. Benefit's Watts Up! is the warmest of them all and is closer to a rose-gold when compared to the other three.
Overall, this is a cute little budget-friendly cream highlighter that I'm glad I picked up. It works well with my dry skin, and creates a dewy but not sparkly finish. But I wouldn't recommend this one if you're oily, due to the fact that it has a tendency to slide.

I'm always down for an inexpensive and gorgeous highlight!

Highlighters are probably my favorite makeup product... along with blush and lipstick.... haha. I love the Benefit Watt's Up! My ultimate favorite is The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer... I'm not worried about a subtle highlight... bring on the metallic shine and sparkle! ;)
