Buxom Vanity Lash Mascara Bar Review

The Buxom Mascara Bar is a brand new, exclusive to Sephora line of seven different mascara brushes that you can choose from to create your perfect mascara look.  It's so genius...why didn't anyone think of this before??
I had the hardest time choosing a brush while at Sephora the other day, but I finally managed to pick one and it's amazing.  Check it out...

Packaging:
Here's how it works...when you go to the Buxom section of the store, you'll see the Vanity Lash mascara with an empty spot in the box where the brush will go.  Then you choose a brush and slide it in the box along with the mascara- see photo above.  The mascara is $22 and the first brush you purchase along with the mascara is free.  So the total cost is $22...unless you buy more than one brush, then they are an additional $11 each. I decided to stick with one brush to see how I liked it first.

Here are the brush choices:
Big & Bushy- Super bushy bristles layer on massive volume for majorly big lashes.

Curl & Contour- Angled brush hugs, contours and shapes for voluptuous, head-turning curves.

Full & Fabulous- Molded ball tips power through lashes for lavish fullness from roots to ends.

Itty-Bitty- Small but mighty detailer discovers and amplifies your littlest lashes.

Lush & Lifted- One side builds ultra-plush lushness, the other separates and lifts lashes sky-high.

Strong & Long- Sleek, chic brush shape teases lashes to extreme lengths.

Thick & Defined- Molded flexi-bristles and tapered tip for epic volume and deft defining.

Here's a quick video that goes into the brush choices more in depth-

I chose the Lush and Lifted brush, which is a regular mascara wand on one side and a lash comb on the other.  I thought it was a fabulous design, since you don't need a separate comb to get rid of clumps!
Formula:
The Vanity Lash mascara is a volumizing formula that contains Shea Butter, Biotin and Pro-Vitamin B-5 to condition lashes and keep them feeling soft, not stiff or sticky.

Results:
When I first applied this, I used the regular mascara wand side and it gave me OK volume and length but the real magic happened when I flipped it around to use the comb part...my lashes just started building out like crazy! I originally was thinking it would just separate my lashes, but it actually did the bulk of the work. After that, I just kept flipping the brush back and forth as I built up several coats, and here's how it looked-

This formula and brush made my lashes huge...lush and lifted indeed. They didn't come out clumpy, but they weren't super-separated either.  The conditioning formula also left my lashes feeling feathery soft all day, despite the many coats I applied.  The downside was that this started smudging under my eyes after about 3 hours and it just kept happening all night. To be fair, it may have been because I layered on a million coats...I was also outside pulling my son in his wagon around the neighborhood in the hot sun, so that could have been the reason.  I plan to try this a few more times and see if it happens again.  I'll keep you updated! I love the results this gives, but if it keeps smudging like that it's going back to Sephora!
Do you like the idea of a custom mascara wand?  Would you buy this, and if so, which brush would you choose?
