Benefit Gimme Brow Review

Thick eyebrows are in right now, and with good reason- our brows thin as we age so thicker, fuller brows naturally make us look younger! My brows are a bit sparse, mainly from tweezing them in the 90's (when thin was in).  Lately I've been trying different brow products to make them fuller but one in particular has stood out to me- Gimme Brow by Benefit Cosmetics.

Gimme Brow ($22) has been around for a while, but I always thought it was just another brow mascara so I didn't think to try it. Then, I caught the Benefit show on HSN and when I saw a demo of how it worked, I got so excited that I ordered it right away. So what makes it different? Check it out!

Product Description:
"This innovative brush-on fiber gel adheres to skin and hair creating brows where before there were none. It builds easily for thick, lush arches, thanks to a tapered brush for blending and a precision tip for shaping. The fiber gel is water resistant, long lasting, and buildable for natural-looking brows".

It's these fibers that make Gimme Brow so unique. Just like a fiber mascara adds length to your lashes, Gimme Brow's fibers attach to your hair and skin, giving you thicker brows that look natural, not penciled in!
It comes in two colors, Light/Medium which is what I use since I'm naturally dirty blonde, and Medium/Deep which is for brunettes. I wish there were a few more shades, one for red hair and one for very light blondes, since the light/medium might be a little to dark for super-light platinum eyebrows.

Packaging:
It looks like a tiny mascara tube with an itty-bitty wand. I was surprised at how small this was when I first saw it...it reminded me of a deluxe sample size and I was a little disappointed. But this actually has lasted a really long time and like mascara, it's not a product you want to keep for too long because it gets a bit dried out and goopy over time. I've had mine for 7 or 8 months and it's about time for a new one.

Formula/Performance:
As I mentioned above, this formula contains microfibers. It's a gel that I find is easy to work with. I start by combing the wand through my brows. Then, to fill in spots with no hair, I find it helpful to press or dab the side of the wand onto my skin, rather than use a combing motion. I've seen reviews where people complained that it didn't stick to their skin when they tried to comb it on, but if there's no hair, there's really nothing to comb! By pressing the wand against an area with no hair, it fills in easily and looks natural. Even on areas with hair, it works best if you use a little pressure, rather than lightly combing it through. This helps the color get through to the skin and give the illusion of more hair.

Before and Afters:
My brows before are sparse and patchy. But after using Gimme Brow, they're not only filled in, but the gel tames them and keeps the hair in place all day.

Final Thoughts:
I love how Gimme Brow gives my brows a naturally full look and they don't look penciled in.
