Memebox Review Special #6 Whole Grain Box

I read somewhere recently that Korean skincare is about 12 years ahead of the US in terms of technology, but it's always been pretty difficult to find here in the States.  So I was totally excited when I found out I would get to review Memebox (pronounced Mi-Mi Box), which brings the best of Korean beauty products to the US!  It's not a monthly subscription service, instead, you can choose which box to purchase and when (there are 4 types of boxes).  The basic Memebox comes in regular and special edition (which has a specific theme).  They're $23 and come packed with 4-8 full sized and deluxe samples. The next step up is a Superbox which varies in price and contains only full-sized products.  Then Luckybox brings back products from previously sold-out boxes in case you missed one.
My first Memebox is a Special Edition box and the theme is Whole Grain, containing skincare products made with extracts of whole grains leaving the skin soft, smooth and radiant.  It came with 8 products, 5 of which are full sizes!
My Memebox came in a bright pink envelope and the box itself was also bright pink- so pretty!

I couldn't believe how packed full of products this box was!  It was like being a kid at Christmas, especially since these products are all new to me.  I couldn't wait to check everything out!
It came with a card that had descriptions of all of the products which really helped a lot.  The first two products I got were an Oatmeal Scrub soap and Rice Bran Powder (click on the picture to enlarge and see descriptions):
This soap by Grinif ($9) is 100% organic and it's meant for your face, although the size is large enough to be a body soap.  It's packed with good-for-your-skin ingredients like oatmeal, rice bran, shea butter and jojoba oil, plus more!  I can't wait to try this!
This next product was the one product in the box that I'm not sure if I'll use.  It's by Herbclinic and is100% rice bran powder ($8) which is supposed to be really good for your skin, but you have to mix this with other things such as oatmeal or rice and milk to make a mask.  I have a baby at home and not a lot of time, so I can't see myself mixing up face masks in the near future.  But this will keep for a while, so maybe it's something I'll use down the road! I'm really interested in how it works.
The next two products are by Purebess and are my favorites of the whole box!
The first Purebess product is called Galactomyces 100%.  Galactomyces is an enzyme that's used in the fermentation process when making alcohol.  It was discovered by scientists visiting a Sake brewery in Japan, who noticed that the hands of the workers who were making the Sake looked much younger than their faces. Galactomyces is the main active ingredient in the very expensive luxury skincare line, SK-II (their name for it is Pitera).  Their Facial Treatment essence is $105 a bottle at Sephora and contains 90% Pitera.
This Purebess product is 100% Galactomyces and it's only $15!  It's so light that it feels like water. You only have to use a few drops for your whole face.  It disappears right away and doesn't leave any residue.  I started using it yesterday and I can't wait to see what the results are!
The next product is Purebess Galactomyces 80 Eye Cream.  It contains 80% Galactomyces and this tube is gigantic.  It's about the size of a BB Cream!  Luckily, I read that it can also be used on the face, so I'm not just limiting it to my eyes.  This retails for $20, which is an amazing deal for a high-tech ingredient like Galactomyces.

Next are two different masks- one full size tube and 2 deluxe samples.
First up is an Anti-Stress Heat Therapy Oatmeal Mask by PureDerm ($12).  This heats up upon application and is supposed to open up and clean out the pores, then soften with oatmeal, cactus, jasmine and honey.  It sounds divine!
The next mask is also by PureDerm, and it's their Rice Bran Collagen Mask ($5).  I received 2 sample packs and they are so cute- they look like jars. This is a sheet mask that's supposed to give you a beautiful glow with 100% pulp of rice bran, plant collagen and Vitamin E.
Finally, the last two products address the hands and feet and are also from PureDerm.
The PureDerm Daily Moisturizing Hand Mask Oatmeal ($7) looks like a pair of gloves that you wear for 20-30 minutes.  They're supposed to deeply nourish the skin on your hands.  Mine are always so dry, I can't wait to try this!
Last but not least is the Invigorating Foot Scrub Walnut ($4).  This scrub contains walnut and apricot to exfoliate and soften the feet and also knees and elbows.  I used it this morning and it was amazing!  It had a creamy consistency, so the grains didn't fall all over the tub as I was rubbing it in like some scrubs do- they stayed put on my skin until I was ready to rinse.  It did a fantastic job of smoothing my feet which are in pretty rough shape from wearing flip flops all the time.

Overall, I am super impressed with my Memebox and I can't wait to get my next one! If you've been wanting to try products from Korea, this is the best deal out there- this $23 box had $85 worth of products in it!  Just a few things to keep in mind...

  • Memeboxes sell out very fast, so if one interests you, don't wait or you'll miss it.
  • These ship straight from Seoul, South Korea so the regular $6.99 shipping can take a few weeks to arrive. They do offer express shipping, which will get your box to you in a few days, but it's $25.99.
  • This is not a monthly subscription so when you buy a box, you're just buying that specific one.
Finally, I have a coupon code just for Budget Beauty Blog readers- use code WDIMZN to get $5 off your first order from now through the end of July! So you can try a box for $18 instead of $23. To see all of the boxes available, or to purchase, please click here:
Have you heard about or tried Memebox yet?  Are you dying to try it?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!
