Mally Beauty Muted Muse Eyeshadow Palette Review

I've been thinking about purchasing the Mally Beauty Muted Muse Eyeshadow Palette ($29) for a while now, but for some reason I never pulled the trigger. Then a few weeks ago, I saw it presented on QVC and that gave me the push I needed to just go ahead and buy it already.

Spoiler alert...I love it!

Let's take a look.
Description:

Muted Muse includes eight of Mally's personal favorite shadow shades--now in one must-have portable palette! This assortment of light, medium, and deep shades in both cool and warm tones adds subtle depth and dimension while flattering all eye colors. The unique palette design features two larger wells of the most wearable base shades, which are perfect for highlighting, contouring, and beautifully complement the other shades in the collection.

With a velvety-smooth formula that glides on and lasts, these shadows are the perfect combination of matte and shimmer, so you can create endless eye looks.

Where to Buy: QVC.com and Ulta.com
Packaging:

The Muted Muse palette comes in a magnetic cardboard palette that includes a mirror and a full sized double-ended brush (separate from the palette). *Please note that it only comes with a brush on QVC...the Ulta version does not include a brush.* Inside, there are eight warm and cool-toned eyeshadows in both shimmer and matte finishes.
The palette is very well thought-out, as Mally included two super-sized pans of the two shadows we all tend to hit pan on first...your highlight and crease/transition shades. As a bonus, you can also use these to highlight and contour your face.  Artistry is the perfect contour and transition shade as it's not too deep or too orange...it's a great neutral brown.
Also, if you look at the six regular-sized shadows vertically, each row can be used to create a look. The first row offers beautiful plummy shades while the second row has warmer browns with a pop of orange.
As far as the brush goes, it's larger than most eyeshadow brushes I've come across, so you won't be able to do a lot of detail work with it. I think it was intentionally created this way so that you can apply your base shade all over the lid quickly and easily with the larger flat end and then add color to your crease with the ball-shaped end without having to keep dipping back into the palette.

Formula:

This is my first Mally Beauty palette so I'm not able to compare this to her other palettes, but the formula is amazing! Every shadow is super soft and buttery with great pigmentation. They're also easy to pick up with a brush and blend beautifully on the eyes with no patchiness whatsoever. Because they're so soft they do have a bit of fallout, but I don't mind at all...they're totally worth it. This might be one of my favorite formulas right up there with Lorac and ABH.

Swatches on Bare Skin
Left to Right: Artistry, Awakening, Insight, Illumination, Inspire, Euphoria, Fancy, and Daydream
Final Thoughts:

The Mally Beauty Muted Muse palette is one of the best I've tried this year and is definitely in my top 5 of all time! I love the shade selection and will wear every single one of these on a daily basis, plus the formula is so dreamy. I also love how well thought-out the palette is and that makes it so easy to use, especially on days when I'm in a hurry.
If you're looking for a perfect every day palette, this is it!

  1. This palette though! It's *stunning* and seems perfect for every day wear like you said. It doesn't have the glitter of the UD Naked palettes so it would be very work appropriate.

    1. Thank you so much Michele! I would say (in no particular order) this one, the Anastasia Modern Renaissance and Master Palette by Mario, The Lorac PRO (original) and Tarte Tartelette in Bloom. At least those are the five I reach for the most these days. Close runners up would be the BH Cosmetics Modern Neutrals and The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony. :)

  7. This is a bit old, but after reading your raving reviews on this palette, I went to get it. At first I struggled with the idea of buying a $30 palette (I rarely purchase brand-name eyeshadow/palettes. The last time I bought one - It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol 1 - I was pretty disappointed with the color selection and pay-off. But because you raved so highly about this one and I do like highly pigmented darker colors, I felt this palette call to me. So I took a plunge and got it. I was agonizing over my decision for days until it arrived two days ago. I felt guilty because $30 was so close to $40-50 and some higher brand name palettes could be attained at that price, but I was going to get this one instead. When it arrived, I was a bit stunned by its small size. $30 for this small cardboard and only a few shadows?! Was I crazy? But just for testing purposes, I made one swipe at Fancy and... I fell in love. I hate wearing brown because it makes my face look dirty and it didn't blend into my skin tone very well. But not this brown! This brown melted into my skin and worked with my skin tone. And it was so buttery smooth too! The pigmentation blew me away. I made just a tiny swipe at it, barely touched it and the tip of my finger was saturated. It was amazeballs. And the brush it came with was also so soft. I can't wait to test the rest of the palette. If just this one shadow can make me a believer, I'm excited for the entire palette. Definitely money well spent and thank you so much for introducing this to us (and sorry for the essay review.)
