Pur Cosmetics Fully Charged Mascara ($22) is a brand new formula with an interesting twist...it's powered by magnetic technology!

This anti-aging mascara contains a unique magnetic force formula that wraps a positively charged elastic veil around each lash to instantly lift, separate, and define each lash without clumping. It's fortified with Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Vitamin C Ester, and Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 to condition, strengthen, and prevent lash loss.

Review:

I've noticed after reading very mixed reviews on this mascara (on Ulta.com) that people seem to either love or hate this formula. I've been using it for three weeks now and can honestly say I love it!

It fans out my lashes so nicely that they actually look almost like falsies. You can see in my before and after photos below how much it opens my eye...my lashes are curled up (and I didn't even use a lash curler) plus they have a lot of length and volume without sticking together. I should also note that it has a traditional soft bristle wand vs. the hard plastic kind.

The negative reviews seem to mention that this formula is clumpy and I have to admit that the first time I tried it, I needed to wipe some excess off of the brush to get the best results and avoid clumps. But one thing I've learned from testing tons of mascaras over the years that you can't judge a formula right out of the gate. Often, if a mascara seems too wet or is clumping your lashes too much, just make sure you wipe off the brush really well the first few times you use it, and give it a chance to dry out a little bit. After three or four uses you can probably use it straight from the tube.

This mascara wears really well too. It doesn't make my lashes feel stiff or brittle and it doesn't smudge or flake. I get the best results from following the directions which say to hold the wand at the base of your lashes for a few seconds to set it, then comb through. Maybe it needs a little time for the magnetic properties to work? I honestly can't say whether that aspect of it works or not...I'm not a scientist. All I know is that I love my lashes when I use this!

Final Verdict:

I am really enjoying this mascara and I think it does a fantastic job at making my lashes longer, thicker, and more lifted with no clumps. I'm really glad I gave it a chance past the first use because it only got better with time. :)

  1. Woah, your lashes look incredible! I completely agree that you have to give mascaras at least a few tries before you dismiss them. I bet a lot of the reviewers tried it once and gave up but there have been a lot that I tried and thought I hated but then I went back to it a few weeks later and loved it. Weird how that happens!

    1. Aww, thank you Laurie! :) It's true, the same thing happened to me with Cover Girl's Super Sizer mascara. The first time I tried it I was like, "Ugh, clumpy mess!" and threw it into a drawer. Then a few weeks later, one of my readers asked me what I thought of it because they were really loving it and it had become their holy grail. So I dug it back out and tried it again, thinking maybe I missed something and it was so much better than the first time! Ever since then, I always give a formula at least a few tries before I give up.

  3. I don't usually think of Pur cosmetics when I think about mascara but it makes your lashes look so good maybe I should start! I will absolutely check this out next time I'm at Kohls. I have a $5 Yes2you reward- do you know if I can use that on beauty? I'm new to your blog by the way and I love it. Great mix of reviews on both drugstore and higher-end!

    1. Yes you absolutely can! I just used a $5 reward recently on one of The Balm's blushes (Cabana Boy) so unlike coupons, you can use Yes2You and Kohls Cash on prestige beauty. :)

  4. I'm one of the people who loves this formula. It makes my lashes look amazing and doesn't give me raccoon eyes (most formulas do). I love it!

    1. That happens to me more often than not...it's so hard to find formulas that don't smudge under my eyes and there are only a handful that don't. Thankfully, this one doesn't give me raccoon eyes either! :)
