I recently picked up the new Lorac The Getaway Eye/Cheek Palette ($20 Exclusively at Nordstrom) and I wanted to share my first impression and swatches with you so that you can decide whether you'd like to purchase it before it sells out. Last year's palette sold out really fast and since it's limited edition, it won't be back once it's gone (although you might see it on HauteLook at some point like last year's palette). Let's take a look!
The Getaway palette comes in a beautifully designed box that has pops of red, green, pink and gold...it's really eye catching.
The Getaway palette contains 6 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 highlighter and 1 bronzer. I wanted to point out that it's made in China while other Lorac palettes such as the Pro Palettes are made in the USA. I've heard a lot of complaints about the quality of the Lorac palettes that made in China palettes vs. the ones that are made here. I started to get nervous and assumed the worst because this palette is half the price of the ones in the regular Lorac lineup...but thankfully, I had no reason to be!
This palette is just beautiful to look at and is going to be perfect for my Spring and Summer travels. It'll be nice to pack one palette for a weekend trip that I can use for my entire face, especially since I can see myself using every single shade in this palette. I love that it contains such wearable shades but still has a few pops of color and smoky shades too. It also has a nice mix of mattes and shimmers so it's just a really versatile palette all around.
The top row has a beautiful champagne highlighter, a shimmery light pinky taupe and darker taupe, a matte chocolate brown, and a gorgeous rosy pink blush with gold shimmer.
The bottom row has a matte black, matte deep blue, shimmery gold, a matte peach blush, and a matte bronzer.
I swatched all the shades on bare skin with no primer. These are one swipe so you can see that the great pigmentation we expect from Lorac is present in this palette. The only shade I had even a little trouble with was the matte black shade, which swatched a little bit patchy. The rest are buttery and soft and pick up easily with a brush. The matte shades have very little fallout while the shimmers do have some...totally not a dealbreaker for me though. They pick up so easily with a brush, it's easy to overdo it...especially with the blushes. On my skin, the eyeshadow and blush lasts all day and was still easy to see when I went to wash my face before bed.

I've been wanting to try a LORAC palette for some time, but it seems to me that they work best for medium-dark skin tones. The only workable shade for fair skin tone in this palette is the bronzer. And don't get me started on that orange blush ( they never look good on me). Oh well, thanks for saving me $20 dollars. Until next LORAC palette.
