NEW Covergirl Spotted at Bed, Bath & Beyond

Thank you so much to reader Hannah (@hhardydawson on Instagram) for sending me these photos of new CoverGirl Spring 2016 releases at Bed, Bath & Beyond! It looks like some really interesting stuff including dupes of high-end products...I've never seen a drugstore brand directly compare their products to more expensive ones before, so I'm really intrigued.

First up is the new Oh Sugar! Lip Balm ($6.49). The display says, "Try vs. a $20 Lip Balm" and "a Fresher Idea" so it stands to reason that they're comparing this balm to the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments (which are actually $22.50).

I did some digging online and came across this picture and information on the Proctor and Gamble website. It looks like there are a lot of beautiful shades on the way...many more than Fresh has in their Sugar Lip Treatment, so if this is just as good, CoverGirl can just take my money now!
COVERGIRL will have you saying Oh Sugar! with a fresh, new vitamin-infused lip balm that provides a pampering, sensorial experience at a better-than-fresh price. And what’s even sweeter than the citrus scent, decadent shade palette and delicious sugary taste? The price! Soft, naturally-moisturized lips never looked (or tasted) so sweet.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

• With grapeseed oil, avocado butter & Vitamins C & E, this reparative luxe lip treatment nourishes, protects and smoothes lips so you feel naturally renewed from the inside out

• Thin oils absorb quickly into lips while a thin protective layer locks in moisture – no thick, greasy film-feel you can get from other balms
• Tinted formula glides on smooth for the perfect pop of Colorlicious payout – we dare you to compare to a $20 balm!
• 10 SKUs: Cupcake, Candy, Caramel, Taffy, Spice, Punch, Soda, Sprinkle, Jelly & Gumdrop

Next up, are the truNAKED Eyeshadow Palettes ($9.49 each). The display says "get the same look as a leading $50 eyeshadow palette" so it's safe to assume they're referring to the Urban Decay Naked Palettes! They come in three shades...Goldens (similar to Naked 1), Roses (Naked 3), and Nudes (Naked 2). These have 8 shades, while the Naked palettes have 12, but if the formula is just as good that would be amazing. There have been many Naked Palette dupes at the drugstore (Maybelline Nudes, Revlon Not Just Nudes, L'oreal La Palette Nudes, etc.) and so far, none of them have panned out as a true formula dupe. I haven't been impressed with CoverGirl's eyeshadows in the past, but I have to believe that if they're claiming that these palettes are as good as a $50 eyeshadow palette that they've changed the formula. I'm really excited to try these!

Here's some more information on them from the P&G website, plus some info on the Waterproof Eyeliner duos that haven't been spotted in stores yet...

COVERGIRL truNAKED Shadow Palettes  andWaterproof Eyeliner Duo
Colour has moved from the lips to the lids, with graphic liners looks, nudes, golds and shimmer dominating the Spring/Autumn Fashion Shows. Just in time to capitalize on those trends without a heavy price tag, COVERGIRL introduces truNAKED Shadow Palettes and Waterproof Eyeliner Duo.

The new truNAKED Shadow Palettes deliver colour payout and shades comparable to a leading $50 eye shadow palette. Each palette includes eight intensely-pigmented, uber-blendable shadows to deliver a smooth, silky feel and prestige-worthy payout at a fraction of the cost.

The truNAKED Waterproof eyeliner duo features two versatile eyeliner shades to deliver rich, blendable colour that shades like a prestige-double ended liner.

FEATURES & BENEFITS
• Eyeshadow Palette shades like a leading $50 eyeshadow

• Three prestige-inspired shade palettes -- Nude, Roses, Golden

•Each palette features perfectly combined pale-to deep-neutral shades to contour your eyes in endless combinations (from nude to smokey) and offers a range of textures (from matte to shimmer)

Finally, CoverGirl has released a new mascara called Plumpify blast PRO mascara ($8.49), which Hannah also spotted at Bed, Bath & Beyond. When I first saw this brush, I thought of Nars Audacious mascara because the spikes looked similar, plus it's a red brush. But then I realized that the Nars brush isn't twisted like that and that piece of it looks a lot like bareMinerals Lash Domination. So I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a dupe of anything or if this is just something new all together.

Here's what I found on the P&G website about Plumpify blast PRO

Women want volume and are constantly trying new mascaras in search of the Holy Grail that delivers on that. Yet volume is only half the battle, COVERGIRL did the research and uncovered the best way to take volume to new heights – and it all starts with a LIFT. Insert new Plumpify Mascara by blastPRO. For lashes that seem darker, fuller and more visible, you need to lift them from the root. Our new Plumpify mascara features our biggest brush ever, with a mix of conical bristles plus specially-designed fins, exclusive to us, that physically grab and lift the lashes. This brush, in combination with our texturizing formula, help create 50x the volume. Mile-high lashes are yours for half the price!

FEATURES & BENEFITS
• Double-action brush plumps and lifts from the base of the lash for extreme volume

• Texturing formula helps build volume and separation
• 4 Shades 3 regular (very black, black, black brown) and 1 waterproof (very black)
• Easy, Breezy Tip: Use rounded tip of brush for hard to reach lashes. Pair with truNAKED Waterproof Eyeliner Duo for a more dramatic look

I'm going to do my best to find these and get a first impression post out as soon as I can. I'm so curious about these...what about you guys?!

  1. Haha I've never seen such a blatant attempt at a dupe. The description cracks me up- "a better-than-fresh" price. LOL. But that aside, I really need to find these balms. Wow!

  3. Wow! I had no idea Covergirl was coming out with these products. I'm most excited for the Mascara, but I'll probably cave and try the lip balm too. Thanks for the info!

  4. I haven't been a Cover Girl fan in a long time. This could be my game changer! Would love to see a little color in the balms!!!

  5. I have also never been impressed with CGs eyeshadows. And is anyone else sick of the Naked dupe attempts? I wondered when CG was going to try. That being said, *throws money at the lip balms*

  6. Well, well, well, count me curious! Cover Girl has thrown the gauntlet down at the ME brands. I like the Fresh lip balms but always thought they were way over-priced, so if the CG ones are passable at fraction of the price, I'm in. And so many DS brands have tried to dupe UD Naked palettes with such pathetic results, I'm not holding much hope, but that khaki olive gold shadow palette is seriously tempting me. I haven't bought anything from CG in ages, but this might change my mind. Hope you will be swatching and reviewing (Katherine T.)

  7. I'm eagerly awaiting reviews on the lip balms...not so much the palettes (since I just grabbed a few in Ulta's Cyber Funday/Black Friday sales)... I was just eyeing up the Fresh ones at Sephora but the price...yikes...

  8. Oh yes please! I would like to see how the lip balms are, because well I'm a sucker for tinted lip balms and my HG lip balm can only be bought in Asia (I'm Filipino and I discovered it just this summer when I went home). Also I would like to see how the mascara is, if it's a wet formula like the Super Sizer, it's a pass. I hate that one. Also, do you know if there are any chances I can return opened products (if I didn't like the mascara) to anywhere else than Ulta?

    1. Most drugstores allow you to return used makeup.

    2. I bought it at Target and I'm not sure if I can return that. I'm gonna try to stick with it since I only have the LB Volume and I need a new mascara, but I will likely get a backup for it
