L'Oreal Youth Code Pore Vanisher Review and Giveaway

L'Oreal's new Youth Code Pore Vanisher ($19.99) claims to actually shrink your pores in one month.  When I saw that on the display at the drugstore, I was pretty skeptical.  I read a ton of beauty magazines, and have since my early teens, and the one thing all the experts are always saying is that you can visually minimize pores, but nothing can actually shrink them.

Here's what L'Oreal says about the new Pore Vanisher:

What is Pore Vanisher™?
Pore Vanisher™ is a fresh, airy cream that instantly minimizes the look of pores and shrinks actual pore size in 1 month.

How does it work?
Pore Vanisher™ works on three dimensions to shrink pores: depth*, number and size. Instantly pores appear virtually vanished and skin feels hydrated. Perlite absorbs excess oil for an all-day, shine free, smooth finish. In one day LHA micro-exfoliates to visibly smooth skin’s surface. In one month pores begin to snap back into shape as our highest concentration of Perline-P strengthens and tightens pore walls to shrink actual pore size.

They also have un-retouched photos on their website that show the product minimizing the pores, so I figured I would do the same thing.

First, here are the packaging photos and ingredients:

It comes in a really pretty tube with a pink ombre effect and it dispenses very easily.
The consistency is creamy and it goes on like velvet.  It has a slight color to it, but it really didn't show once blended into the skin.

A lot of people are saying that this could be a dupe for Benefit's The Porefessional, but I don't feel that way.  Yes, they both minimize pores, but the textures feel quite different.  The Porefessional is a drier, waxy, balm-like consistency, while the Pore Vanisher is creamy with a silky texture, like a skin cream with a bit of silicone in it.
Also, the Porefessional doesn't have the extra skincare ingredients that help to shrink the pores over time like the Pore Vanisher does, so they are very different products.  I think NYX's Pore Filler is a better dupe for the Porefessional, and will be doing a comparison post later this week.

So here are my before and after photos.  I'm not wearing any makeup, and you can see the pores on my cheek to the left of my nose.  There's a bit of shine there, which surprised me because I'm usually pretty dry.

Now the after photo- the shine is gone and my pores are much less noticeable...success!

I think this product does a really good job of minimizing pores and getting rid of shine.  I think it hides pores just as well as Benefit's Porefessional, and if the Pore Vanisher truly helps to shrink the pores over time, it's definitely worth picking up and trying.

At $20, it's a cheaper option and may even do a lot more than other pore fillers, which only hide the pores temporarily.

What do you think about this product?  Have you used it yet or do you want to?

Guess what?  I have one tube of Pore Vanisher to give away to one lucky winner. Enter below for your chance to win one!

  3. I bought this and very disappointed how wasteful the product is. I get a clear really runny liquid that comes out and them lumpy tan color. I have tried shaking it but it does not want to mix. Although the skin seems like it has a silicone like feel it to.
