The Mally Beauty Shadow Stick Extra 5 Pc. Collection is Back!

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you might remember the Mally Beauty Shadow Stick Extra 5 pc set that I reviewed last fall...well guess what? It's back at Ulta.com!

I actually purchased this set on QVC and it quickly sold out after that. Then it showed up at Ulta and quickly disappeared again, so I was really excited to see it arrive at Ulta.com this morning because mine are almost gone after a year of use...I need to stock up!

For $39 ($6 less than last year) you're getting 5 full-sized shadow sticks (and they're regularly $25 each!). So if you've always wanted to try these, this is perfect because they work out to $7.80 each...similar to what a drugstore eye crayon would cost. Also, these shades are all wearable neutrals that work great on their own or as a base for other eyeshadows.

I posted a full review on this set here, but to sum up quickly, if you've never tried Mally's Shadow Sticks, you're in for a pleasant surprise. They go on smoothly and give you about 30 seconds of play time to blend  with a brush or your fingers before they set...then they stay on your lids until it's time to take them off. Mally calls them a "tattoo in a stick" and I completely agree, they're some of the longest-lasting cream eyeshadows I've ever tried. They also don't crease, which is very important!

I wear them alone most days because they're quick and easy for a mom on-the-go like me, but I also use them as a base under eyeshadow, so rarely a day goes by that I don't wear these in some way or another. They're also slimmer than a lot of other crayon-style products so you can use them to line your eyes (I like to use them to smudge some color underneath my eyes!).

I decided to post some new swatches because I don't like the lighting in my original review post...it's way too cool-toned and that's not what these look like in real life. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced one of the shades, Bliss which is a beautiful pinky taupe shimmer, but I have the other four shades to show you here:
Moonlight is a perfect highlight color and it brightens under your browbone or in the inner corner of your eyes.
Brownstone is a really pretty warm brown shimmer and is one of the shades I use most often. Timeless Taupe is my other favorite shade...it's matte so it works really well as a base under both gray and brown shades (but can also be used on its own).
Mahogany is probably the shade I use the least because it's dark (and I don't do a smoky eye very often) but it's still nice to have for those rare times when I want to go for a deeper, smokier look.
Bliss is a shimmery pinky-taupe and is a go-to shade when I want a pretty, feminine look.

Overall, this is an amazing value and if you're a fan of cream eyeshadows, I highly recommend trying these...you'll be amazed at how long they last on your eyes and the colors are so pretty!

  1. I have been wanting to buy these after swatching a couple in store and getting home and seeing how difficult they were to remove from my hand. I figure that means they must be really long wearing. But $25 each is way too expensive for me. I was bummed out that I missed the 50% sale during the 21 days of beauty but this is even better. Going there right now to purchase!

  2. Just ordered these! I just had a baby a few weeks ago and need something that will be easy and quick to apply and lasts all day. I can't even imagine taking the time to do a complicated eye look right now but I still want to look polished and put together. Thank you for posting about these!

  3. I wanted them a couple years ago when they were the original formula and made in Italy. They were awesome. I got one in a test tube discovery box from QVC. Then, QVC had another set on a special and I saw they were made in China. I quickly returned them. If these are back to being made in Italy, I'll pick up, but not China. The maybelline color tattoo sticks are awesome, they last all day and they're made in the USA.

    1. I have owned both the old version made in Italy and the new version made in China and I don't see any difference in performance of the product. I do think they cut corners on the packaging because now it feels a little cheap (the plastic) but it doesn't stop me from buying these. I think they blow the Maybelline ones out of the water in terms of the color selection and the way they apply. Also, I wouldn't hesitate to buy something made in China if it is from a reputable company who is overseeing production. I wouldn't trust a no-name product being made in China but Mally? Of course.

  4. Brownstone and moonlight have me! I would love to try Mally's products if they were more accessible to me here in singapore! I'm a huge fan of shadow sticks and I love a good shimmery rich brown as my base. This set has great value, you totally have a gem set there!
