Jordana Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

I found the new Jordana Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadow ($4.99) at Walgreens recently and ended up purchasing all six shades to review and swatch for you guys today. I haven't had the best luck with liquid eyeshadow formulas in the past and usually prefer thicker cream formulas but I took a chance on these because I love Jordana and find them to be great quality most of the time. Let's take a look!
Jordana Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadow

Description: These aren't online yet so there's no "official" brand description/claims that I can share with you. Even the in-store display didn't make any claims about these being long-wearing or pigmented...the only thing it talked about was the applicator, which is a pretty unique shape (more on that below).
Price/Where to Buy: $4.99 each at Walgreens stores
Quick Verdict: A must-buy (as long as you don't mind a little glitter).

Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadow comes in six warm-toned nude shades that are packaged in small clear tubes so you can see the exact product shade inside. The applicator is "lemon-shaped" according to the store display...it's flat instead of the usual doe-foot style with a pointed tip that's perfect for getting into the corners of the eyelid and the crease. It feels super soft and flexible, and it holds a lot of product...actually more than you need. So for that reason, you can't apply this product completely with the applicator because it would put way too much eyeshadow onto your lid. Basically, I use it to dab a little on my lid and then blend it out with a finger.

The Made to Last Eyeshadows have a thinner, liquidy consistency similar to the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer or the L'Oreal True Match Concealer. Basically it feels like those lighter-weight concealers that come in a tube with a doe foot applicator vs. thicker formulas that are in a squeeze tube. I've tried liquid shadows with this consistency in the past and I've always been disappointed. You can see what I mean in my NYX Cream Eyeshadow review and here in my Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor eyeshadow review...both reviews are older so please excuse the horrible photography, but they give you a good example of how patchy they can apply.
Normally when I apply a cream eyeshadow that comes in a pot (such as Color Tattoo) it's a thicker formula so you can't see any skin through it, but liquid formulas tend to go on streaky  and can be difficult to build up without making them look even worse. Not the case with these!

As you can see from the swatches below, they apply really opaque and pigmented in one swipe. Once they dry, they're set for the entire day and I had no issues with creasing or patchiness at all! They can also be built up easily for a more intense look...just apply a thin layer, let it dry for about a minute, then apply another thin layer.

Below I'm wearing Not a Wink Pink and this is one coat. It's hard to tell in the photos but the finish is pretty glittery. In the swatch photos, they look like more of a metallic/chrome finish but once it's on the eyes, the glitter particles spread out a bit and become more noticeable. Thankfully they seem to stay on the eyelid rather than migrating down onto the rest of my face (except for maybe one or two strays throughout the day). I just wanted to mention that in case you're not a fan of glittery eyeshadows. Personally, I feel like these might be too shimmery for everyday use...at least for me. I typically wear mattes and shimmers but rarely venture into glittery shadows unless it's for a night out. These can also be used as a base for powder eyeshadow, so if you plan to layer something on top, it'll tone down the glitter a little bit as well.

Overall, these are the first liquid eyeshadows I've used that haven't applied patchy or streaky and they truly last all day without creasing. They're also super affordable so if you see these at your local Walgreens, I wouldn't hesitate to pick one or two (or six) up!

Pros: Long Lasting, Affordable, Pigmented, Beautiful Shades
Cons: Glittery (may not be a con to some of you!)

  1. I don't mind a little glitter! I've been waiting for a good drugstore option to come along. Looks like these are even nicer than some of the high-end ones too, which is amazing. You would think it'd be the other way around.

  2. I bought all six as well because some were already gone in the display and I worried they'd be gone soon. It was a gamble and figured I could return un-opened ones if I hated the first one. I don't regret buying all six of them one bit, though. =)

  3. These are so pretty! I saw your post at work and stopped by Walgreens on the way home, but no luck. Grr! There is one more Wags near my house that I can try but after that I'm out of luck.

  5. Thanks for the review! These look (& sound) great. I like glitter on eyes so it's not a con for me. I hope they come out with more colors.
