Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer Review

I wasn't looking for another primer when I walked into Sephora the other day, but then I overheard two girls over by the Tarte section raving about a review they saw on YouTube on Tarte's new Timeless Smoothing Primer ($39).  Curiosity got the better of me, so after they walked away, I went over to try the tester and I really liked how it felt. So I took the very last one they had on the shelf and then as I was paying, the girl at the register said that they were having a hard time keeping it in stock!
I went home thinking I had something amazing in that little black and white bag...so, was I right? Let's find out!

Packaging:
This primer comes in a nice, weighty frosted glass jar with a purple top. It looks and feels very luxurious.

Formula:
This primer feels like a thick paste when you scoop it out of the jar. I've found that you need to warm it between your fingers first, because if you apply it directly to your face, it has a tendency to pill up into little balls.
Also, it helps to pat it into the skin, like you would with other thick primers like Miracle Blur or Nanoblur. It's really quite thick to just rub it in and it might get streaky that way. I pat it over pores, lines and wrinkles and watch them vanish before my eyes! My skin has an airbrushed finish when I'm wearing this, and it looks like it'a gone through an Instagram filter. I was really impressed with the blurring effect.
Not everyone will like how heavy this is, but I use it sparingly and then let it set while I go get dressed and I don't feel it on my skin after that. The first time I used it, i didn't let it set for a few minutes and it was still a little tacky, so my makeup didnt go on as smoothly. I think it's a good rule of thumb to let any primer sit for a few minutes before applying your foundation.

Fragrance: This has a light, powdery fragrance that's quite pleasant.
It reminds me of L'Oreal Studio Secrets primer that comes in a jar, but it's a little thicker and blurs better. It's silicone based, but then again, so are most primers.
Overall, I'm loving this primer! It's a bit tricky to use, but the blurring effects totally make up for that, at least for me. Next time you're in Sephora, try this out on your hand and see what you think. I'd love to hear your thoughts since the reviews out there are so mixed on this one.
